Cheese balls, ah yes. I remember them not-so fondly. This big ball of orange-tinted stuff covered with nuts I couldn't identify, but assumed they were pecans.
And of course there is the inevitable pairing with the sausage balls stuffed with cheese on toothpicks that were always too cold to be delicious by the time I got my hands on them...yes this is the stuff of traditional American holidays. Well, at least characteristic of those after the food processing plants were invented.
I have made a solemn vow to never personally be responsible for serving those two dishes during the holidays, if someone wants to bring them - fine, but I ain't makin' it.
Do you like cheese balls or sausage balls? Was it a staple at holiday or family gatherings while you were growing up? Perhaps, you still serve them now?
And for those that don't care about processed cheese balls with weird unidentifiable things inside of them, today also marks the birthday for three very special peeps!
