How many people use pre-holiday sales to shop for other gifts needed later in the year?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
I already have my wifes Birthday gift for April and Anniversary gift for July, from the great deals offered on Black Friday, Cyber Monday and now per-Christmas sales. The ONLY hard part is remembering I have the gift and finding a place to hide them till needed!!!!

Do you "pre shop" for later gifts, when the buying is cheap?

I don't do this. My mom does though and it seems to work out well for her.

That is so sweet that you plan ahead for her gifts.
I don't scour the sales specifically, but I do buy gifts months in advance. Whatever pops up.

I kind of shop whenever I can for gifts. If I find something I know would work that happens to be on sale, AWESOME!

I try to shop all year long for Christmas gifts. I just wait for the best sales. Then by the time Christmas gets here, I only have a couple of people to buy for. Plus, the expense doesn't hit me all at once.

I don't buy anything unless there is something on sale that I really need or was going to purchase in the near future.

I try and do pretty well. The only problem that I've had is buying things for someone more than a month or two in advance and finding out that they need something so much more right before the holiday. Then I'm faced with spending more money to get them something they actually need and can't afford themselves or giving them the fun, slightly less relevant thing. Now, I try not to shop more than 2 months ahead.
