per child for Christmas? Meaning YOUR children, not family members or friend's children. If you don't have kids, then hypothetically, what would you spend?
How much do you spend...,

I think $300-$500 but I've never added it up. If I did I'd probably cry!

We have a Toys R Us credit card which we pay off every month and use for everything. By the time Christmas rolls around, we have a lot to spend on the kids, but it's free.

Other, I have no children

agreed, lol, but if I did it would depend on what they wanted if it was educational then I would be willing to spend more. On the other hand if it wasn't educational then I would be a lot less inclined to spend a lot of money.

it depends. my father in law spends alot on them. We spend some, but dont go over board. They get alot of things they need, and some toys.

It depends.. Last year we didn't spend alot because our oldest had just turned one and we had a newborn just a few days before so we were strapped for cash at christmas time. We'll spend quite a bit this year tho!

when the kids hit the teens one or two gifts, 200-250 cash with the sales they turned it into 400-500.

I have no children yet, but I would most likely spend around 150$ on each child or so.
10/23/2011
We probably spend more than we should but we are pretty practical.

About $3 per cat.

I try to spend 100 or less, his grandparents spoil him enough
10/23/2011
I've never added it up, either. But probably over $300. Not by much though.

Don't have kids but prob would spend about $150-$200ish. Im pretty poor though. If I made more I would spend more.

I dont not believe in buying all those expensive electronics that so many kids have these days. I think its so stupid that parents see nothing wrong with parking the kids with a dsi or psp or expensive cellphone to entertain them when the great outdoors is just as fun.

This for both my girls. We spend about $200 for all of Christmas. Maybe. We also dispelled the whole Santa myth this year. So, that's even less we need to spend. My kids have 3 grandmothers. They're pretty much set.

I tend to spend a good deal, but I'm also sneaky, and do Jammie's for stocking stuffers and such like that. Bubble bath, neat tooth brushes, etc. so I get to add to the bulk with necessities, and her being 4, she just likes to open em.

My fiancee and I don't have any kids, but I think $300-400 would be a good amount assuming we can afford it.

My goodness! People spend a lot of money on their kids! My family is well-off, but we don't spend like that on the holidays. The focus is spending time together and having fun. I think I spend $25-50 per niece/nephew each year and that is normal in my family.

LOL That's a good point! I hit the bargain sales at the end of the year and stock up on pet supplies/toys. I probably spend over $100 on my pets around the holidays--more than I spend on real gifts.

If I did have children, I'd definitely be in the <$100 range since they would be showered with gifts from everyone else (since my brother is the only one of the eight cousins to have spawned thus far, making my nephew the sole member of his generation).

I mean, this is assuming that I made the kind of money I would need to spend that much on my hypothetical children. But I don't plan to have them unless I know I can take care of them financially.

I picked 101-300, but that is only with my oldest. My youngest will be 18 months old at christmas, I've got her equal presents as her brother, but seeing as clothes, and toys are cheaper I've only spent about $85. I bought my 3 year old one of those new leapster things that cost $100, plus some other presents. When they are older I will make sure I spend equal amounts on them both

Too much, does that count?

My boyfriend and I don't have kids yet, as I'm just out of med school. I'm not sure how much I'd spend on them, but probably not more than 300ish. My mom had a 300 dollar limit on my sister and I growing up, but after we hit like 13ish, she'd just take us to the store. We always got a lot, but not enough to spoil us. When I was 16, there was a class trip to Germany, and I spent 150 of the 300 on clothes, and the rest went to my Germany fund.

I don't have kids.
I know my mom spent about $200 dollars each on me and my brother though.
She did a lot of Black Friday shopping.

Depends on how many I have, but probably no more than $500, unless they're an only child. Then $1000.
