On Memorial Day, how many actually "respect" the day for what it is?

How many people, unless directly related to a soldier that has given "their full measure" in service to our freedoms....actually "feel" the meaning of the day as intended?

Do you?

Okay, I am related to one--my dad-- and my godson was killed in Afganistan. I definitely find the meaning and honor in the holiday. This year I am going to the VA hospital to visit my dad. I was able to get an amazing discount on daisies and carnations, made flag decals and attached them to fun little jars for all the vets at the hospital. The nurses have okayed it and are helping me distribute them once we get there.

I don't have anyone that I know who has died in combat but I do appreciate all the people that have passed on while fighting to protect our country.
I'm odd really, I don't like or desire war of any form but I certainly admire and respect the brave men and women that take part in them.
