Are you filled with a sense of sadness or relief when the holidays are over? My husband said he's always sad when all the hoopla is over and it's back to business as usual. I get that, but mostly I sign with relief that all went well and things were all done and the family is together and happy. Which do you do?

I'm typically relieved. I'm not much of a... big gathering girl. It makes my social anxiety flare up when I have to attend parties where large groups of people are that I may or may not know or be comfortable around.

I do love the feelings of happiness that most people exude, and I love being able to give those I love wonderful presents whether they are big or small, but at the same time, it's very wonderful when it's over and I can get back to normal financial planning haha.

I'm pretty comfy at the social events we go to, but I know what you mean. There is something stressful about the break from the norm that puts me on edge. Such a huge build up and so much planning that needs to all work out well....and until it's all said and done, I can't relax. Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays, I like seeing everyone, I like the wrapping and gift giving. I just also enjoy the relief when it's all done.

I went to a very large Christmas party at the beginning of December. It was the biggest one I had ever been to and there were a lot of men there. It was a Christmas party for the volunteer fire department that my fiance is a part of. It was really hard for me especially because I was getting a ton of attention from total strangers because the week prior, he had just proposed to me.
THAT was stressful hhaha

I used to feel a huge let down when they were over. I loved all the plans, preparations, wrapping, family gatherings, food, & yes, unwrapping. but these days, it no longer carries the same experiences so when it's over, oh well.

Oddly enough, New Year's is the opposite. I look forward to the hoopla and I'm bummed when it's over. We have a very relaxing low key New Year's with fun and a few drinks and good food. There is some planning, but it's minimal. The whole thing is about being calm and doing things we like, eating yummy food and having fun.

I'm relieved when the holidays are over, and a little sad when the decorations come down. But relieved more then sad for sure.

Relieved once the holiday preparations are done, but sad when they are over.

Relief is a good way to describe it. I hate the holidays. I hate feeling obligated towards people in any fashion. Whether it's just to hang out with them during the holidays or to give them gifts -- all of it sends me into a social tailspin.
