“It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 7 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes [and] at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools. RIP Tyler Clementi, Asher Brown, Seth Walsh, Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase, Billy Lucas and Cody J. Barker. You are loved.”

It's so sad that these events have happened in recent times, but I hope this will be a wake up call to people that abuse and hate crimes are still occurring everywhere, and we need to start caring enough to stop it.

I agree that this is so sad! I will make sure to write this date down and send it to all that I know. I hope this helps spread the knowledge of what is going on even though some areas do not get to see it directly.
