Thanksgiving: Turkey, or whatever you feel like?

Contributor: Supervixen Supervixen
Almost everyone I know eats Turkey (or tofurky, if you're into that kind of thing) for Thanksgiving, but does anyone out there do a feast, but make it whatever they want? Perhaps an Italian style Thanksgiving with pasta, or a Chinese take-out night, or just a mishmash of your favorite grub? Or do you stick to the traditional turkey, stuffing, yams, pumpkin pie, etc. meal that most of us probably do for the holiday?

I've been trying to suggest we do a bunch of random new foods for Thanksgiving since it's only the five people in my immediate family, but nobody else is keen on the idea. They all want the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc. So I do that.

Chinese take-out would be yummy, but I generally go for something involving turkey. I wouldn't mind a new way of having turkey though (Orange turkey Chinese takeout maybe? ).

That sounds good!

I'm currently convincing my family to let me make a soup to go with the usual, traditional Thanksgiving foods. For some reason, they think it's a weird idea!
