Buffy the Vampire Slayer and It's spin off 'Angel' Vampire Diaries is good I enjoy it a lot and love Damon but It will NEVER hold a candle to Buffy. I do admit that I now like Damon more than both Angel and Spike. They both have vampires and deal with the supernatural, some horror and romance but the other subgenres are different Buffy is also a comedy, Action, etc.
