Do you think commercials for scary movies are starting to go too far with scaring people? I think so.

I think that they go too far. Because you really like what you see, but when you go waste $10 to see it, and it isn't anything like what you thought.

I'd say that it depends. If the movie is proportionally scary to the trailer, then no. If they show that the trailer is GHERIOTEFHOWIEFDORFIWH BREIFVN terrifying, but you get to the movie and they showed the only 3 parts in the trailer and the rest is stupid... Then I don't like that.

I agree, if the movie only has like 1 scary seen and that is what the trail is then it pisses me off. Don't misportray the movie.

They are just trying to lure people into the movie theater

Some movies do, I think.

I know I'm a chicken, but if a preview can scare me, I only imagine what it does to a 5 year-old.

It's Halloween time, all the scary movies come out about now. There is a horror festival and everything. That is why there are so many "scary" movies and trailers.

I don't think they take it to far at all. I love scary movies. I like gore. I watch it on a daily basis. I've watched some super gory stuff that there is no way it would have ever been in the theaters.

It's a parents job to make sure their 5 year old isn't sitting around watching horror movies or the trailers. I've never seen a horror movie commercial on cartoon network. Which is likely what the 5 year old is watching. Honestly, my 3 year old watches some stuff. He knows exactly what zombies are, vampires, and the Exorcist. It's fake and even he knows that. I think people get carried away with what we need to protect out children from. You don't want to protect them until the point that they have no idea what they should fear.

Most of them are fine, but there have been a few that push it a bit far for me.

I think they are trying harder but failing more. I mean almost all trailers just cut from one image to the next and flash a lot. I personally don't find it scary but maybe if you were younger or easily scared.

seems like they put the best and scariest parts of the movie in the trailers...then you watch the movie and your like "what the ****? i thought this was supposed to be scary?"

I think if the movie is gonna be scary, the trailer should depict that.

no, i dont think they go too far. if im going to pay to see a movie, id like to see what its about, and if its actually going to be good. On the other hand, they do play these commercials durring the daytime, so kids are able to see them- which may not be such a great thing...

I just hate the ones that say there based of a true story or claim to be the scariest movie ever.

This...I hate it when they do that.
-_-
We rented some scary movie that had a kick ass trailer off our on demand a few months back and literally ALL the good parts were the ones in the trailer.
It's really disappointing actually.

I don't think so. I hate trailors that show all the good parts and then the rest of the movie stinks.

Many people are still sensitive, mainly because they avoid things like graphic horror movies, torture movies and slasher movies.

I know I can't stay in the room when commercials for "Saw" type movies come on. I'm sensitive and I have only seen one slasher movie in my life and it was horrible and scared the shit out of me. Being a nurse, I know that pain hurts and that some of the scenes in they types of movies would cause excruciating pain in people and some people tend to forget that the movie is depicting these horrible things being done to other human beings. I don't see how this can be entertaining. I don't find the suffering of other people entertaining. I've witnessed REAL people in REAL pain and it hurts my heart. I don't understand watching people in pain for entertainment.

My children are likewise, sensitive people and these commercials scare them as well.

Not everyone has intentionally desensitized themselves to violence, torture and graphic scenes of gross stuff. Many people still have empathy for other people and do care that these commercials go too far, especially when they show them during the day or during Prime Time television when younger children are still in the room.
