Do you like to sing?

I've loved singing for a long time, but I'm starting to consider doing some voice training soon. I was taking an acting class at my local community college and we did a musical theater unit that I ended up really really enjoying! It's so much fun.

I sing when no one else is around. I love singing in the car with my dog

I'm more of a closet singer these days. I used to sing in a choir when I was in high school and the early years of college.
I tried out for solos and chamber choir groups, but was always rejected. When I asked the director about it, she said that I didn't have the "look" she wanted for her singers. Essentially, I was good enough to sing in the large choir, but not in the smaller one where people might actually notice me.
I am a plus size woman with blond hair (that I occasionally dye a bit of), piercings and tattoos. She wanted average sized women who were completely vanilla in appearance.
I guess I just got turned off to the singing thing when I realized that it doesn't matter how you sing, only how you look (the majority of the time).

I love to sing, it makes me happy.
