Do you trust the major media (NBC, CBS, ABC, BBC...etc)to be giving you the straight scoop?

I feel like every source of news is biased in some way. You just kinda have to listen to a few and then come to your own conclusion.

I certainly think some networks are biased, FOX for instance. ABC, NBC and CBS are probably biased as well, but I don't think as much so as FOX. CNN seems to be about the least biased.

It's impossible for human beings to report about anything without injecting a small amount of bias. So yes, I know that every single news source is going to have some sort of bias. That's why I read news articles from multiple sources.

All of the corporate media have a strong corporate bias, that is, a reluctance / unwillingness to report negative information about the major corporations which sponsor them. The political biases of some networks (Fox, MSNBC, etc.) are mainly for the purpose of marketing/targeting, but that also distorts reality.

BBC is mostly free from those pressures, which is why I trust their news MUCH more than the other sites listed.

Oh my, I don't know how I left them out. My bad. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, where is FOX? I just got lectured about it being the only truthful source, which was very frustrating. I don't trust any one news source. News is written by people and it is hard to keep bias out. I read around and somewhat skeptically.
I guess they were in the "etc". I didn't mean to create a full list, I meant all the "biggies". I guess I should have listed them. My bad.

They don't really expose corruption like they used to.

I think BBC is less biased in general, but it's good to take all news with a grain of salt.

ok, Look at what happened today in Boston. One min a major news corporation was reporting they had a suspect in custody.. who happened to be arab, next thing you know there is no one in custody and there never was.

Actually, the one goal of all paid news media is to make money. In order to make money, they need to attract as many viewers as possible. Therefore, they will play up anything shocking, frightening, etc. in order to grab people's attention and keep them watching. So no, objectivity isn't a priority for them.
