I enjoyed Spike and Willow, but for me the quasi father-daughter relationship between Giles and Buffy made the show, especially in the musical episode, "Once More With Feeling." I was going through a lot of therapy at the time I was introduced to the show (long after it had become reruns.) The fact that Giles reminds me of the therapist I had then probably influences my answer some.

I must say I relate to Giles as a parent also. I think the great thing about Buffy as a show is that you can watch it on so many different levels based on where you are in life.

Giles is great because most of the time he's this very proper adult, but sometimes he just shoots off these snappy one liners and it's the best!

I loved them all at different points, but overall Anya is my favorite followed by a tie with Xander and Giles Dawn is my least favorite. And I never liked any of Willow`s girlfriends. I wish they had done a better job with those characters.
