I don't read horror novels too often (which is odd, since I love horror movies, web series, short stories, etc.), but about a year ago I read John Dies at the End. That was good, and it had some really funny moments here and there, as well.
I also hear great things about House of Leaves. I've read part of it, and it's scary, but more in a "twist your brain up with subconscious scariness that's hard to put your finger on" kind of way.

I've heard good things about house of leaves, but I haven't read it myself.
Clive Barker's Books of Blood, while not novels (they're collections of short stories) are my absolute favorite horror anything. If you like supernatural/monster horror, those stories are the shit!!
I am looking for something new to read and am leaning towards a horror. Problem is I do not really know of any great ones.
What is you favorite horror novel?
John Dies At the End is amazing, but is in no way a horror novel! My favorite horror novel is for sure Haunting of Hill House. All of the movies leave out the spookiest scenes and really don't do it justice at all! (How to you show a bond between a house and a woman in vivid detail? You really need to read it for the full effect)
I like these horror authors....Richard Laymon, Jack Ketchum, Brian Keene and Edward Lee. Stay away from Edward Lee though, if you have a weak stomach. His stuff is disgustingly gory...but I like that. Lol.

JDatE is usually listed as horror-comedy, though there are certain parts I'd say fall into straight-up horror. That's me, though.
I should read Haunting of Hill House - I keep hearing such good things about it, and I really need to read more horror novels. That and all the Steven King classics.
I've only read a couple Stephen King books in high school that I can remember. I'd like to get into horror novels more, so I'll be keeping a tab on this tread.

I read more crime type horror, still scarry as hell but with a crime aspect to it. I really, really love the book Level 26 by Anthony Zuiker. Couldn't sleep for the three days it took me to read that. Mr. Clarinet by Nick Stone also kept me up for awhile.
