I prefer the Cooking Channel, which is basically Food Network without all the fluff and filler and shows that are supposed to be entertaining. It's COOKING SHOWS all day every day, but it's owned by Food Network so it's the same chefs.

I love the Food Network, Cooking Channel, HGTV, DIY network and the Travel Channel. They're my favorite channels on tv.
I personally watch Food Network more than the Cooking Channel, because I don't actually usually like actual cooking shows that much. I have this thing about legit cookbooks and idk. Sooo the food porn shows like The Best Thing I Ever Ate and Diners Drive Ins and Dives are of course Iron Chef are favorites.
I find that they inspire me a lot more, food-wise, than most cooking shows. I dont know why, but most things chefs cook on cooking shows don't really make me want to go "oh gosh I want to make that with you!" But the food featured on the travel and best-this or that shows usually make me drool and want to immediately find a recipe and take a stab at making something similar for myself.

My husband & I love Alton Brown. My husband has cooked a ton of Alton's recipes such as Alton's yummy Macaroni & Cheese recipe. I always have to help my husband with it since there is a part of the recipe that is very time sensitive.

I love Food Network...except for anything competition or with too much of a "reality" vibe to it. I'm starting to like the Cooking Channel more. I find their non-instructional shows to be more interesting than the Food Network's.

My last roomie paid for us to have cable (she just couldn't live without it). I'm not a big TV watcher, but when she got married and I took her room (and TV), I watched Food Network and Travel Channel for hours. Alton Brown, Jamie Oliver, Robert Irvine... I loved those guys. And Iron Chef America!! I don't have cable now that I'm on my own, but I'd do anything to convince Netflix to make Iron Chef America available!

Food Network amuses me. So I tune in occasionally. But usually the TV is on a sci-fi or crime drama show instead.

I don't have cable anymore but my nine year old and I never missed an episode of Iron Chef America or Chopped. Oh and the whole family was gaga for the Food Network Cake Challenges.
