Is there anyone else out there that's just as glad as I am that the Harry Potter movies are finally over? I mean, I loved the books, but the movies just were not good if you read the books.

I agree that the books were much better than the movies, but I liked the movies too.

I am just glad they are over. I watched the first 2 because I was told I needed to "because they were soooooo good". I think they are very overrated.

The books were definitely better than the movies. I really wish people would stop turning books into movies because they just get butchered so that only people who didn't read the book will like the movie. I wasn't too bothered by the earlier Harry Potter films, but I thought the end of this last one was especially bad.

I don't really mind either way. I watched the first movie and when I realized how much better my version was in my head, I was no longer interested in seeing any of the other movies.

Honestly, I don't know. I was disappointed in most of the first ones but the last movie the split into two actually was the first one that I felt satisfied with.

It's a rarity when a movie is as good or better than the original book.

I liked the movies. Some were better than others.
I'm never "glad" when a series is over. If I don't like something, I don't think about it. I don't wish that it would end just because I don't care for it.

I think the movies were pretty true to the books. The casting was excellent. My middle daughter is a Harry Potter fanatic; she went to the midnight preview last week, and.... dressed up for it. She won a Hermione Look Alike Contest at a Harry Potter Book Release Festival about 5 or 6 years ago. (One of the towns outside Chicago turned their entire downtown area into "Diagon Alley" for the release of the last 4 books or so. It was amazing.
She's... grown..... She said the last movie was the best yet.
I've seen the movies and read the books, but she's the real expert on Potter-ology in our house. Our little one loves the books as well, but not with the enthusiasm that her older sister does.
I haven't seen the last movie yet. But, so far, I've been happy with what they did. As close to the books as any movie ever was, IMO. I'm glad they made the last book into two movies as there was too much going on to fit into one movie. I think the people who made the movies put a lot into it to make it true to the books.

I loved the books and the movies are great as long as you realize they simply don't have time to include all the information that the books have. If they had gone the Lord of the Rings route and done extended editions, perhaps the diehard fans would have appreciated the movies more as well. As a fan of Harry Potter, I am sad to see it end, but I'm sure they will come up with something else soon.

Extended editions would have been nice. Because the movies had to cover a year in so little time and simplified plots and details, they were frequently really jumpy. It was always Sorting, Halloween, Christmas, Year end, bam-bam-bam. Also, being that the fan base was so passionate, being more consistent on some details like how characters looked, how magic was used in the books would have been better.
