I won't lie. I am a regular mate on the S.S. Piratey. Yargh. I try to mostly DVR what I want to watch though, so I can catch it there or later on netflix (I completely missed hitting that button, oops). But sometimes things aren't shown over here at the right TIME and I don't want to wait a few months... You know how it is.
I'm not into sitcoms, reality shows or chick flics - so I watch what comes on when I happen to have time. In my opinion there isn't a single show worth recording - they're just not that enteraining.
I like how the companies are FINALLY seeing the trends and are streaming more shows. FINALLY!
Prediction: Owning copies of shows is going to be thing of the past in the next 5 - 7 years. I think everything is going to be available to stream for a small monthly fee.
I'm just curious to see if most of the tv watches here watch live or online...
I watch most of my shows live on tv but I do record some of them on DVR to watch later on. It's great when I am not able to watch one of my favorite shows.
I don't have cable anymore, so no DVR. Honestly, I just don't find it to be worth the money? Why pay $50+/month for digital cable or satellite when you can watch almost everything available on Netflix and Hulu+ for about a total of $20/month, not to mention the shows that stream free on network sites?
For the shows that I can't get, like True Blood, well, I have a good friend that I visit once a week for the shows we watch together and make it a girly vampire party for 10 weeks out of the summer.
I usually watch my favorite shows when they are on, but I have no problem waiting for Hulu. If my husband and I didn't enjoy sports and Jeopardy so much, I would consider getting rid of our (basic) cable entirely.

less
Yes, but most people pay for the internet and cable/satellite. I would be paying for internet no matter what (Mr's xbox, EF, work, etc.), so why not save money where I can and cut the useless cable.
Besides, I'd rather be reading or talking to people (in person or online) than watching tv.
In order. On Demand, live, illegal streaming (mostly this is old kids shows on you tube), legal streaming, illegal/legal downloads are rarely used as are DVD.
In the rare case I catch it when it's on I will watch it live. Otherwise I will DVR it (I honestly don't know how I lived without it!). Netflix is great too, I use it a lot when there's nothing on TV.
All this talk about Netflix reminds me to tell y'all that Eden Flicks had their FIRST MEETING. We're watching The Graduate, and will meet on June 5 to talk about it some.
So.... if you like MOVIES... you should watch The Graduate and join us for discussion!
i watch most of my shows with dvr. my shows are showtime and HBO shows. True blood, weeds, big c, shameless, nurse Jackie, united states of Tara (omg amazing shows) so i don't have time to watch them all weekly when they come on so i dvr them. we have netflix and sometimes we uh borrow movies from the internet. LOL
I'm just curious to see if most of the tv watches here watch live or online...
for shows that are still running, and if i am desperate to see the newest episodes asap, i'll watch them live on tv (usually i do this with bones, criminal minds, and ncis, sometimes with army wives).
if i miss an episode, i'll torrent it or watch it on the show's website the next day.
if i want to watch stuff that's not currently airing near me, or older seasons, i'll stream them online (like law and order: uk, battlestar galactica, etc.). i usually do that using netflix or sidereel.
if i'm really desperate for something and can't torrent it, don't want to wait for the netflix dvd to ship, and can't find it streaming (*cough*caprica*cough* ) i'll purchase a few episodes on amazon or itunes while i wait for the netflix dvd to ship.
i'd like to get dv-r but i almost never use my tv (i watch tv on tv like 1-2 hours a week MAX, only when primetime shows with new eps are on) and it's a tiny crappy tv so it seems like a waste.
