Let's talk about Webcomics~!

I like to have a little bit of routine in my life. Having a comic update to check every day makes me feel happy. I love adding more comics to my dailies, and I love sharing webcomics with my friends.

n_n What are you reading? What sort of genre/s do you favor?

My list has grown and shrank. I consider it somewhat small.

I follow-
Questionable Content, Red String, Two Kinds (Anthro), Thistil Mistil Kistil, Tea House (NSFW), Oglaf (NSFW), Candi- A College Story, Dumbing of Age, Dovecote Crest, My Life With Fel (Anthro, nsfw-ish?), Hark, a Vagrant, Skin Deep (Anthro-ish?), SMBC (nsfw-ish?), Spinnerette, HomeStuck, Miamaska, Judecca, Bittersweet Candy Bowl, Namesake... and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

I don't really have much of a genre I stick to. I've read slice of life, fantasy, horror, romantic... what other types are there? -forgets- n_n I like them all! As long as the story telling is alright, and I find the art acceptable, I'll probably give it a shot. (Though, admittedly, some comics I still follow only because I've read them for so long, I feel it'd be a waste of my time to not find out how things go, even after I've lost interest)

c8 I'd happily recommend people some comics, if given the opportunity, and I welcome the same~

I've stuck to three for about ten years now - they all started back in the mid-late 90's and are still going strong. It's funny how they've lasted longer than my marriage ...

Kevin and Kell (the mixed marriage and odd family life of a rabbit and wolf, and their world being a parallel of ours)

The Devil's Panties (the weird-ass situations of a sequential artist and professional geek girl, all based on the life of the creator)

Sin Fest (all the crap we want to say about the state of American culture, but are too polite to do so - so this guy does it)

I sometimes read others. I sincerely miss Sanity Cheque - the insanely weird marriage of two geeks and the stuff they talk about; it sort of reminds me of living with my ex-husband, only they had an actual sex life.

Oh man. =] I've got a huge list. Off the top of my head:

Questionable Content
Red String
Candi- A College Story
Devil's Panties
Least I Could Do
Looking For Group
Girls with Slingshot (highly recommend this one!)
Wapsi Square
Sorcery 101
Dr. McNinja
PhD Comics
Flipside
Girl Genius
Wooden Rose
XKCD (50% of it is over my head though)
Garden Hose (recommended for kinksters! But it is on hiatus.)

And I'm pretty sure I'm missing half of them, but anyway, I'm a total webcomics geek. =]

I follow Oglaf, Bug Comic, Something Positive, xkcd, Weregeek, and Bunny. Sometimes Two Lumps and Moosehead Stew.

I tend to read one-off jokes instead of full storylines.

Ah! Kevin and Kell! I was wondering what that comic was called!
I found in a couple years ago and spent a few nights going through all the archives. C: It's not something I plan on following, again, but it was nice to check up on it! n__n

One comic that I still adore, even though it's way past finished, is YU+ME: Dream.
link

This has to have been one of my first ten webcomics I ever started reading. And over the years, Rosalarian has become one of my favorite artists.
C: This comic is about a teenage lesbian who seemingly seems to meet the girl of her dreams... and then some freaky stuff starts happening. n_n I highly recommend it!

She makes quite a few other webcomics -
I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates from Outer Space
Meaty Yogurt

as well as a couple on the NSFW pay site, Filthy Figments.

AH!~ We have a lot in common, Comic-wise!

I used to loooove Wapsi Square! @__@ But it started to get really confusing (Girl at the coffee shop being ... a part of the main character, or something???) And I got so confused, I just couldn't read it anymore. :c I miss it.

Flipside- Oh! Does this one still update? I loved the storyline, but for some reason it's always been a comic I forget about.

xD XKCD goes over my head most of the time, too.
c; I kind of think of SMBC (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal) as the xkcd for the average internet geek.

And my favorite is Dominic Deegan: Oracle For Hire

What's an example of an XKCD comic that goes over people's heads?

link -- Even with the alt text, i have no idea what he's talking about.

link -- I know nothing about the technical side of computers, and hardly understand command prompt lingo

link -- Another example.

XD And yes, sorry, I did just start from the most recent, and go backwards.

Yes, we do! xD

Hehe. Yup. She became a part of the main cast. =] I don't blame you for the confusion though. It took me a few tries to get into it. And there's this wicked twist to the last arc that blew my mind.

I believe Flipside is still updating. =] It's pretty original. I really like the way the plot is developing right now.

I actually haven't checked out SMBC yet. I should do that soon.

Also, the first xkcd posted:

In Charlotte's Web, the spider, Charlotte, saves the pig, Wilbur, from slaughter by spinning messages (the first and most memorable being 'Some Pig') into her web. Cirith Ungol is the lair of Shelob, the giant spider in Lord of the Rings.

The last one, the Battle of Agincourt was won by the actions of longbowmen, effectively ending the era of close quarters combat and knights. With the development of the long bow, archers could stand at a good distance from the main action and fell swathes of peasants and even armored knights before any of their own men were even on the field. This completely revolutionized warfare.

The second one, I don't understand either. But hope I cleared the other two up without sounding like a pretentious nit.

Gosh... I haven't followed any webcomics since Megatokyo and Sluggy 8 years ago. Just got real depressed in high school and never got back into it again. :c

No love for Achewood? It feels mostly dead at this point, but it was genius for a long time.
