I finally finished watching Firefly on Netflix, and I couldn't figure out why it got cancelled! When I asked my husband, he said it aired out of sequence and just confused a lot of people. I never saw it before now. I did watch Serenity, but that movie didn't really make me think, "Now I HAVE to watch the show!" Although I did re-watch Serenity after finishing the show, I only watched the show because my husband made me. So...

When did you really get into it?

I got into it by complete accident. I read fanfiction often, and when looking in the bookmarks of the authors' whose stories I really enjoyed, I kept seeing this one fanfic that was a crossover with that fandom and Firefly. Eventually I gave in, looked it up, and got sucked in.
Also, that crossover was glorious.

My best friend came over with the DVDs and said "hey, you gotta watch this show", and ever since then I have been hooked. I didnt see Serenity until after I had watched all the TV episoids.

I went to see Serenity in the dollar theater because the ads looked good. I had no idea it was based on a TV series until afterwards. Then I started finding out how popular it was through various people I encountered online. I caught the series on Netflix, and well, now I own it!

I kept finding fanfic by various awesome authors about Firefly, so I decided I had to watch the show. I'm glad I did, cause it completely got me hooked, and turned me into a total Browncoat!

The very minute I heard the words "Joss Whedon" and "spaceship" in the same sentence, I became a fan. I was disappointed in the first episode to air -- The Train Job -- because while it was entertaining with plenty of awesome elements, I expected something better. When the dvds came out and I learned it wasn't the planned first episode, but something written in a hurry to please some idiot FOX exec, it all made sense.

I wasn't even aware of it when it was on the first time. While visiting my husband's family, we saw commercials for it being rerun on a channel we don't get at home. We ordered it from netflix and were hooked.

By my pretty floral bonnet, Fox screwed this up big time.

I tried to watch it when it was first on, but it was on at a bad time. Then I got Serenity for my birthday, and about a year later I at last managed to get the TV series. And at some point I want to get the actual browncoat. Sadly it's a bit too much.

A lot of people suggested it to me, so I told my boyfriend I wanted to watch it together and we did. It was a bad decision because now I'll be plagued with the sadness of knowing it will never go on just like all of you.

I just finished it and Serenity. Omg why did I wait so long to watch it? It's one of the worse crimes of tv that it only had one season, like the ninth Doctor.

I'd heard about it from one person before that, but they didn't really sell it well to me, so i never looked into it. But then this one guy was talking to me about it one day and he thought I would really like it. We were going to watch it together, but it wasn't on Netflix at the time so it never happened, but I saw it playing on the Science channel one day, and I got hooked immediately.

The Science Channel has been promoting the heck out of their upcoming Firefly 10th Anniversary Reunion on Veteran's Day, November 11th.

It's going to be an all-day Firefly event, beginning with the airing of the entire series and culminating with the reunion special airing at 10pm EST.

I guess random is the best option for me. By some accident of nature I missed seeing it when it was originally on, but damn it's Joss so I bought the series sight unseen when I found a copy on DVD. That was long before the movie, btw. Been loving it ever since.

The Science Channel where I live has been airing "Firefly: Browncoats Unite" commercials and that got me interested in randomly watching it. That and the constant references to it in The Big Bang Theory.
