I never heard of it until after it was cancelled--one of the good things that came of having been married was that the ex heard about the show and bought the DVDs. We promptly got sucked into staying up way too late for several nights, watching "just one more..."
Oh, the horror and frustration of learning what Fox did to this beautiful series. I really don't understand why a network would invest money in a series, only to practically guarantee its failure like that. Wrong episode shown first, bad time slot, constantly over-run by sports games...tragedy, I tell you.

When the dvds came out and I learned it wasn't the planned first episode, but something written in a hurry to please some idiot FOX exec, it all made sense.

I know too many people that are obsessed with every little thing Joss Whedon does. When the show came out on DVD it was impossible to avoid watching it. I was lucky to make it out without watching it with commentary.
I do like the show a lot and have since watched it all the way through with my woman.

I started watching last year. Watched it all on Netflix in order and then watched Serenity. I had watched some Buffy and all of Dollhouse and already liked Joss Whedon so I gave it a shot and ended up loving it! Of course I'm heartbroken about the fact that there's only 1 season.
