One show/movie/book you refuse to watch/read?

For whatever reason.

I've not watched stuff just because people get on my nerves talking about it. There's a list a mile long. Last year, I didn't watch Black Swan just because people kept on going on and on about it. I know. Weird.

Lol. I know what you mean. There's a HUGE list that I refuse. Heck, it'd probably be easier if I just named off the things I will watch.

1. LMN
2. SOME Lifetime shows.
that sums it up for me!

I won't watch reality shows, MTV or the other trash channels. I won't watch shows that are nothing but nudity and talk about sex and just are plain vulgar. No, I don't mind talking about sex. What on earth do I love being here so much for?! Lol. But it's the way most shows talk about it. Vulgar! It's just annoying, usually degrading as hell and not something I want to see. We like clean, fun humor. Don't get me wrong, sex humor can be downright hilarious, but not the crap you see on TV and certainly not the way TV portrays sex. Just M.O.

I won't judge a film/ book/ t.v. show until I watch it. I'll watch or read almost anything that's put in front of me; however, I've noticed that I do have an incredibly hard time watching a lot of reality television shows because they're so over the top and predictable. I don't mind if my films, tv shows, and books have a lot of sexuality or pertinent violence. After all, art is supposed to mimic nature, and sex and violence is the nature of the beast, as much as we don't like to admit it sometimes.

I don't watch anything with Meryl Streep in it because she slandered the Washington apple growers so badly on 60 minutes several years ago, and her faked tears there are all I can think of when I see her.

Other than that, I'm pretty open to most things! (Although, I'm not really in front of a tv often enough to recognize most things that might cross the screen. So I answered this for "if you go to a friend's house and X is on tv, will you leave the room?")

Pretty Woman. I've seen it, but I won't watch it again and I hate this movie. The idea that any woman is "going to get the Fairy Tale" is far fetched, the idea that you can work as a prostitute, choose a nice rich, good looking John who doesn't beat you up, and then DEMAND the "Fairy Tale" and then get it is LUDICROUS!

I remember when I was younger some girls I knew wanted to go into prostitution because "It's the way to get a nice rich guy." WTF? Why? Because this movie made this think it is so.

This movie sets a dangerous premise and isn't just a silly little RomCom. As a result, I can't watch ANYTHING with Julia Roberts in it without getting angry. I love the Ocean's 11 movies..... except for her. In other movies, I avoid her like the plague. Laughing (screaming) with your mouth open like a big horse is NOT acting. In fact, I've never seen her actually produce any quality acting in any sphere. She just makes me so uncomfortable.

Aw, what a shame. I adore that movie. I grew up watching it, I think Julia Roberts is a fabulous actress, especially in Mona Lisa Smile. That might have something to do with reading her biography, knowing the town she grew up in like the back of my hand and the similarities in our personalities...sorry that you find the movie so wretched. Let's not forget the era the movie was made, it was just a different world altogether.

Sorry. I just think the movie sends a terrible message to young girls. I honestly don't think the era it was made in has anything to do with it.

I think the message is dangerous and could damage young girls. "Instead of getting an education, getting a good job and making something of yourself, drop out of school, whore yourself out and you'll find the Perfect Man by doing this." HOW is that good in any era?

That's not the message at all and I'm sorry you don't see it that way.

I, too have a list of movies I refuse to watch. And it's mostly because they were hyped to death and I already know that I really don't care for critically acclaimed movies and I prefer things that are indy or at least original and provocative.

I kind of caved on a few though---Cool Hand Luke (great movie!!!!), Terminator, The Thing, and a few others that my husband really likes that I swore I would hate. They weren't so bad.

Anything with Adam Sandler. I still don't see bathroom humor as being funny.

Actually, now that you post this, I'm going to retract my previous statement and echo this. I will NOT watch anything with Sandler, because his "humor" is so limited, and I won't watch anything with Will Farrel (sp?) and there's one more whose name I don't recall.

I won't watch Martin Lawrence movies. I got through about a quarter of National Security before I couldn't take it anymore. It's not like as soon as I see him or hear his voice, I shut the movie off--it's more like, if he's supposed to be the main draw of a movie, I skip it.

Glee, most network "comedies" (I'm starting to think that's a relative term now), Twilight franchise, any movie that features past/present SNL cast members after '92.

I've never eaten at a Wendy's... does that count?

It started that I just never had, then I just never would.

I've got 33 years in.

I'm not gonna break that record.

I saw it once and I'll never watch it again... The Rest Stop. The ending of that movie made me sooooo angry and mad I was in a bad mood the rest of the day. I just hate the ending of that movie so much!

I saw Pan's Labyrinth in the theater and to this day I can remember my horror when Captain Vidal started stabbing the guy with the broken bottle.

Adam Sandler is another automatic no-thank-you for me with one exception: 50 First Dates. That was an exceptionally cute Rom-Com.

I will probably never watch Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I don't think I could sit through a graphic rape scene. I also never watch movies like The Hangover.
