Which do you prefer?

Reading. Audio will put me to sleep! Lol I read either regular books or books on my Kindle. I prefer being able to get them on my Kindle since it's so much easier to use when reading before bed, but I do love a real book sometimes. No audio for me though!

I had to listen to an audio book for a book club once, and it wasn't something I'd do again.

I just can't focus on it and in the car I prefer to sing.

I prefer to read books with paper pages (an important distinction in the day of Kindles and e-readers), but audio books are cool when I have something else I need to do at the same time.

I'm a classic reader. I like to imagine the character's voices and actions myself and I like to go at my own pace, which may be quicker or slower than the narrator. However, I do own one audio book that I listen to constantly, especially at night when I can't sleep.

Reading, for me there's nothing quite as magical as the scent of a really good antique book just sitting dusty on a shelf waiting for someone like me to come along and pick it up, read it, and breathe new life into it's long forgotten pages once again.
I tend to stalk the sections of the library where they keep the ones that don't see daylight as often. =^.^=

Reading the book, I think you can get deeper into the book if you are reading it yourself vs listening to it.

Depends on what I'm doing.

I like listening to audio books while I'm driving. They really make time fly and keep me entertained.

I like to read in the bathroom (who doesn't?) and right before bed.

Real books! Real, paper, in-my-hands books.

Real books- they don't run out of batteries! Or break if they get dropped on concrete!

Reading. If I zone out while imagining a scene, I can just resume my place. I can't do that on my mp3.

I prefer to read for myself. I like to imagine characters' voices on my own. I also sometimes have a tendency to space out while reading. With a book, this isn't a problem because I'll still be one the same page. If I was listening to an audio book, trying to find where I was would be a pain.

I have listened to one or two audio books while riding in my brother's car. They were autobiographies, so imagining voices wasn't as big of an issue, and I managed to pay pretty close attention. Still, it's not something I'd do normally (though my brother DID give me one read by Tim Curry, so I might just make an exception, hahaha!).

For the most part, I like real books (that I can hold, flip the pages, etc)... I've never tried an audio book before, but I think they could come in handy while I'm cleaning, etc. I want to try one eventually, but right now I vote real books because that's all I've used.
