Sorry. Read a few CLASSIC Sherlock Holmes stories in high school...ages ago, but nothing new, and don't remember the character that well.

I've been wanting to see the movies. Maybe since they are newer they might have some "fresh humor" in them

I may have to look into the books, sadly the only Sherlock Holmes that I know of is the newer movies and the short series (cant remember who produced it though)

Doyle wrote him that way on purpose.

Liked the books, hated the new movie. I actually feel the Star Trek Sherlock episodes were way more awesomer (totally a word).

I don't mind movies being different than the books, and if people enjoy that movie - good on them. It just wasn't interesting to me, it felt like they tried too hard to include irrelevant "action" and "sexy hawtness" in order to appeal to a modern audience whose intelligence they have no faith in.

I love everything Sherlock Holmes. I love the original stories/novellas by Arthur Conan Doyle, and I really love the BBC series "Sherlock." The Robert Downie Jr. version is not an accurate depiction of the character Sherlock Holmes, although I did enjoy the movie for it's own sake.

read all the stories. kind of gets old because the stories follow pretty much the same pattern, but i love Sherlock's personality. he's arrogant because he's good at what he does, which is better than being arrogant and not being good. love RDJ's updated portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, too!

He's arrogant, that's for sure, but it's because he's amazing I loved the stories as a child, and the BBC tv series is turning out to be great too.

I really liked the original stories and books. I'm also a fan of the BBC "Sherlock" series. I like the Robert Downey Jr. movies too. I guess I'm not a purist about the character. I think each deviation from the original has its merits. I like that Sherlock has some new life for this generation.

I liked him, and the books. And the movies, too. Holmes was quite active, it's just that we don't see that in the books.

I read the collected stories many years ago and liked them then. I also did enjoy the movie with Robert Downey Jr.

I don't have a problem with the movie if I completely isolate it, but dislike it in comparison to how I've seen the character / stories portrayed before and in comparison with general movie trends.
