Song Dedications

So, we've had it at least once - our sig other dedicates a song to us, and we associate the song with them and the relationship. It didn't have to be through the radio, it could just be a record or CD they put on and said "I want you to hear this song because this is how I feel." Even after you break up, the song brings back so many memories when you hear it randomly.

The song that really makes me stop and listen is Foreigner's "Waiting For a Girl Like You", which was dedicated to me by my first (and only) boyfriend my junior year in high school. It brings back so many feelings of that intense month we were together ... he was my first kiss and all. He gave me the ignoring treatment when he broke it off, but I have heard he married another busty redhead who wears glasses and they have a son. Still ... that song just makes all the memories flood back, and I'm seventeen again.

To this day I can't stand listening to Aerosmith's "Don't wanna miss a thing". That was really popular the first summer I was with my first real girlfriend. And it was VERY overplayed already...so that helps.

I'm not so much with the love songs though. I have a lot more songs that remind me of bad times in my life than good ones.

The first one is really funny. It's "Whoop (there it is)" I can't remember the artist, but it always reminds me of my first crush (who also happened to be one of my best friends at the time). They used to play it at ever school dance and eventually he dragged me out on the floor to jump around like an idiot. It still makes me smile when I hear it.

The second one is more of an annoyance. It's Trisha Yearwood's "She's in love with the boy." My mother told me after I moved in with my hubby that that song reminded her of us. She said all they had to do was change Katie's name to mine. It just annoys me.

I also have a song that the lyrics give me flash backs. Other than the lyrics, it has no connection to the events it reminds me of.
