After attending a NRBC meeting for Carnal Machines, I have steampunk on the brain. Then I watched Suckerpunch this evening, and I started to wonder if it is considered part of the steampunk genre. Those who have seen it, what do you think?

To those who haven't seen it, don't waste your time. It's a disaster.

I would say it's in the "absolute shit" genre. Seriously, though, I don't think it can really be classified. Which is part of the movie's problem. It just tried to be too many things at once.

I had no idea what it was going to be when we watched it, and I'm still not sure exactly what it was. I think I'd categorize it under Fantasy.

Oh god no. I gave up after about thirty minutes and started selectively fast-forwarding so I could get to the ending quicker. I should have saved myself the time and gone directly to themoviespoiler.com

It's not a terrible movie, it just suffers story wise. It's loaded with epic fight scenes and music. I don't think it's terrible, just poorly cut making the story very weak. As for a Genre, I could actually see all the different fight scenes being cut into some epic sci fi film with a totally different story about saving the universe, lol. I just found the movie meh.

Only the one section is steampunk. Id go and call it fantasy. The whole movie was all fan service. Story wise it was horrid but it had some good ideas concept wise.
