The Oscars: are you watching?

Contributor: Roz W Roz W
I used to think they were neat, but I've been less and less into them in recent years (the last exciting thing I can remember was Hugh Jackman singing). Are you aware of/watching the Oscars this year?

I might. Seen most of the nominated pictures, but none of them were particularly strong in my opinion this year.

If we are in tonight and watching TV, we will probably flip back and forth between the Academy Awards and what we are watching. We really are only interested in Best Pic, and leading/supporting actor/actress. We follow a few others like Best Documentary, Best music and probably a few I can't think of. We both also like to look at the way people are dressed and the jewels. Usually we love some and laugh at the others!

Probably not, but maybe. Strangely, my husband likes these kinds of Gala Events more than I do. He'll probably put it on while we're in bed and then fall asleep.... then I'll turn it off and read.

The entire idea that these people are doing a "job" that most people would do anything to do (imaging taking a year off from your job and being fine, just because you felt like it, and someone will hire you, waiting until you are ready to work again) they are catered to like spoiled children, they get paid boat loads of money, they are admired and even worshiped by certain people AND they need an award show to pat them on the back, too? Sheesh. It kind of makes me ill.

So, so glad that Billy Crystal is back to hosting! We have a party every year to watch them, although lately we haven't seen most of the movies.

Award shows are over rated---too much talking in between of the actual awards.

The Red Carpet pre show was on several HOURS before the actual awards---Seriously--do n't care what the celebs are doing....

I don't really care about the Oscars but am catching a glimpse of it every now and then, since my husband is watching.
