What do you think of cartoons nowadays?

Contributor: Falsepast Falsepast
i think they're awful. what's shown now is an embarassment compared to the glorious 90s cartoon shows like courage the cowardly dog, catdog, etc.

i miss cat dog really :/ i used to laugh hard, and the angry beavers, rug rats. spongebob is great to watch, but they show the repeats a little too much, you can easily see the same show 4 times a week.

i wish they bring back some of the older ones, i miss those

I don't really watch many of the modern cartoons anymore. I will watch anime, but they've ruined American cartoons. I agree, nothing will beat shows like Courage!

The newer cartoons kinda scare me lol. I like the old stuff, bring it back!

Honestly? I get kind of annoyed with the rampant nostalgia-vision that I see everywhere, but I suppose most members of a given generation do this. My dad refuses to think anything made after he was a child is any good, and now I see people my age doing the same to modern cartoons.

There's a number of cartoons on now that I like quite a bit (Transformers Prime is my current obsession), just as there were a number of cartoons from my childhood that I hated even back then. Era is of no consequence to me.

Once in a while I find a new cartoon I like but for the most part I watch the older ones I grew up on. The quality of cartoons (with very few exceptions) these days can't hold a candle to the older stuff.

I don't really watch any since I don't have a kid or younger sibling. They are on when I visit friends that have children but I don't pay attention. I like SpongeBob but that is it. I like the 'adult' cartoons like Family Guy though.
Cartoons were the best in the Mid 80s to through the 90s. There is a channel that has some old Nick cartoons and I turn it on every now and then if there isn't anything else on.

This! It's pretty annoying. "Glorious", seriously? It's kids tv shows, c'mon. I never liked CatDog or Rocko's Modern Life, but I did like DuckTales and The Magic School Bus.

I've never been a huge cartoon fan, but I do like Adventure Time. Some other good post-90s American cartoons are Teen Titans and Proud Family.

I know that by adult standards in the 90's many of the cartoons 90's kids grew up on were annoying... but they had depth. They were artistic, creative, weird, I've even seen some hardcore fans come up with this insane backstory / explanation to WHY the cartoon was presented as it was.

Cartoons these days? There's... no substance. It's "mindless entertainment" literally. Nothing actually happens in the episode, or it's almost as though the cartoon is geared toward redefining societal boundaries. Such as the cartoon 6Teen. B| The only decent 00's cartoon is Ben 10.... and it is pretty much the modern day version of Johnny Quest. Kindof...

There are no Thundercats, Digimon, He-Man, O'Canada, Cow 'n Chicken, Invader Zim, Ed Edd n Eddy... idk
They were all geared with a sense of humor that even adults could grasp and laugh along with. I go back and watch them, and the word play is absolutely amazing! Where as cartoons these days employ... nothing of the sort.

I agree though, Adventure Time, Regular Show and Flapjack aren't so bad. I've only seen a little bit of A.T. though and even less of the other two so I can't accurately judge them B|

Actually, Invader Zim is from the 00's as well! People remember it as being from the 90s for some reason.

Out of all the cartoons on television today, the only one I can stand is Phineas and Ferb.

That said, nothing will ever have as much intelligence and flat-out hilariousness as Animaniacs.

Freakazoid, yes. I've got to admit that I completely fell in love with how random it was.

Pinky and the Brain just sort of stopped being funny to me when it went from being a segment to it's own show. (It got even worse after they added Elmyra.)

Awful. Most of the newer ones are just mindless. Gotta love the 'adult' ones as mentioned above: Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad at a stretch.

Even when I was a kid growing up in the 90s, all my favourite cartoons were the Hanna-Barbera ones dating back to the 60s.
