I have a friend who has a prince albert piercing. Be advised he couldn't have sex for six months to allow it to heal. Personally, piercing turns me off. I don't find the appeal in genital piercings for either gender. I wouldn't risk those important nerves.

If you decide to get it, make sure you get it because YOU want it. If you do decide to get one, depending on the type (prince albert, jacob's ladder, etc), it can take quite a bit of time because you can become sexually active. Also, depending on where you get it, you many not be able to wear a condom with it, which while that may or may not be a concern now, it certainly could be in the future.

Some people like the look, some don't. It's a personal choice.

I'd check out link - they have great info about all types of genital piercing. I had my now defunct hood piercing done there.

I agree with Em, only do it because you want it. Personally, I don't have a preference. I look at them as a novelty but that's not to say I don't love a good sexy body mod. There's a bunch of different piercings you can go with, however be advised that some are difficult in healing and can be incredibly painful during the procedure, as it heals, and even for a while afterwards: Apradravya (through the penis head) Dydoes (piercing around the coronal edge of the penis head) Foreskin Frenum (through the loose web of skin between foreskin and head) Guice (horizontally at the base of the scrotum) Prince Albert (underside of the penis) Scrotum/Hafada (can be very difficult to heal) The estimated healing times for nose, septum and bridge piercing is: * Ampallang: 6 - 10 months; may require a year or more to completely heal * Apradravya: 6 - 10 months; may require a year or more to completely heal * Bridge: 2 - 4 months * Dydoe: 2 - 4 months * Foreskin: 2 - 4 months * Frenum: 2 - 4 months * Guiche: 4 - 6 months * Prince Albert: 2 - 4 months * Scrotum/Hafada: 4 - 6 months link

SD, thank you for such a handful information. Do you know if there is any difference in the healing times for the cut and uncut penis? Looks like some of the piercings cannot be even done for the cut penis. Thank you.

There's been some GREAT responses here. Now listen, if you WANT a penis piercing, find a reputable and LICENSED piercer, and do it...only if YOU want to do so! Not cuz SHE wants you to do it. If she wants genital piercings in her life so bad, she can get hers done, or done again. It's briefly painful (my ex had one), and can take 6-8 weeks to heal (usually). And, you have to forgo sex for that time (at least for your Mr. Happy anyway).
With my ex, I could feel it, but it wasn't like mindblowing.
Make this choice FOR YOURSELF. True, you can take it out, but, with the pain and thehealing time, not to mention the cost, this is something you should really think about and WANT to do.

I agree with everyone else so far, get it if YOU want it and make sure the place is reputable! Damaged nerve endings in this particular area would be horrible!

Why did you remove it, if you don't mind me asking? I would like my wife to get one...not sure what type, but she's not as thrilled. We are researcing and understand that while I'm interested in it, I would never force or pressure her into doing something like that if she didn't agree 100%. We are curious, I am a lot more so in many regards. Thank you in advance for your reply & thoughts on the matter.

They look so incredibly painful. I would personally not be able to get past the fear of causing more pain if I were with a pierced man.

Honestly, getting your penis pierced is all a mental game. If you can get past the idea of it, you will be fine. The healing is not that bad either as long as you keep clean, and clean the ring off with warm water or new piercing cleanser every single chance you get. Throughout the day a scab (I guess you would call it) forms on and around the hole in your skin. This scab will also start to form on the jewelry around the hole. This can be avoided by proper aftercare. After the first day or two, the only real discomfort was from when the hardened scab material on the jewelry, rubbed against the skin, and especially when it went inside the pierced hole. I should have kept it more moist. I know it is supposed to take weeks to heal, but in a week or two I had already moved up in jewelry size. In a few months, I was wearing a padlock. I will add this: once you start wearing really heavy and large whatevers in your piercing, you do reach a point where you need to remove it during your late night social interactions.

Never! Ugh! It hurts just to think about it. For that matter, I think all piercings are gross. Sorry, but I would never consider it.

First off, you need to consider a few things:
Do YOU want this piercing?
Have YOU had your own desires/ambitions to get a piercing of this type?
Would you be willing to accept the scar tissue if you choose to remove the piercing?
Are you aware of the risks?
Have you read and are you willing and able to follow the aftercare, word for word?

Now that we are past that, there are some things that you should know. Everyone's body is different, so the amount of pain/bleeding/etc that you may or may not endure you won't know until you get the piercing. When I wanted to get my tragus and my conch done, I read many, many experiences and asked a lot of people. Everyone told me that it was one of the most painful piercings they have ever had, and yet it was one of the least painful for me.

Piercings, especially body piercings, can face a lot of hardship after you get them done. They are more easily agitated, generally have a longer healing time, and often require special attention. You need to be aware of the risks of piercings, which vary between the different types of male peircings available. You need to know if you are allergic to any metals. There is a lot to consider.

I am very close friends with a professional piercer who has both a Jacob's Ladder and a gauged Prince Albert. If you do decide to get a genital piercing, then I hope your girlfriend likes hard, unforgiving texture, that's all I can say!

I have one myself. got it about 10 years ago. Mine is a ring through the gland on the underside of my penis. I am circumcized. I love it any girl I have been with loves it my wife loves it. I will however make one suggestion. Do not get the P.A. unless you wana deal with a mess and some pain for a bit.

1. It goes through the head of the penis and through the urithra so when you pee your going to be peeing out of 2 holes.

2. Not sure if you have even pissed in an open wound but it hurts.

3. Even afer you have removed the ring there is very good chance the hole may never completely close so you may alway have to worry about the peeing and cumming out of 2 holes.

4. The time a P.A. takes to heal would make it a no no for anyone in a physical relationship.

Make no mistake any penis piercing hurts all your normal day to day activities like sitting standing walking driving will be affected. That being said once the first week or 2 is done its so worth it.

It's the first and only thing I'll ever get pierced. I'm not a big fan on of piercings usually, but I enjoyed the act of getting pierced, and my wife likes them. I'll likely be getting an ampalang in the not too distant future.

Penis piercings kinda freak me out. The way I think of the penis is as an enormous clit. And I can't imagine anything more intensely painful than poking a hole through it.

I think this is a total matter of personal preference. You can't have sex for a long time after you get it so you might want to run that fact past your girlfriend. In the end do what you think is right.

I'm not overly keen on P.A.s, but frenum piercings look good on most guys who get them.
