A new study suggests: Men find tattooed women more approachable

Contributor: Mr. John Mr. John
The article suggests that men see a lower-back tattoo on a woman as more approachable when it comes to dating, and are likely more promiscuous.

What is the consensus here at Eden? Is this just more drivel, or do you think it has some validity?

I have a lower back tattoo, but no one would ever see it showing in public. I think if you have one, and it's obvious in a public setting (other than accidentally having it shown when you bend down, or whatnot), than you're trying to get the attention. Women who are obviously showing off so much of their skin in general would seem like they're seeking certain attention. I think that's what it has to do with far more than actually having a tattoo in that location.

This actually makes sense, I got my 1st tattoo last year on my upper back, some of my blouses, it can be seen in the back at least the upper half, sometimes the lower half too. I've found the men at work actually easier to talk to and less competitive.

I think men may see a woman with a tattoo as more approachable since they are seen as more fun loving, daring and approachable. It opens up a door for discussion that is not there for more reserved women and women with no tattoos. Also--no strings conversation-ask about the tattoo, get a response, judge how friendly they are.....

I've got two tats. But not on my lower back, and not visible unless I'm wearing a two piece bathing suit.

I got them for me. Not to show off.

I could see how this idea would come about. I have one tattoo and it is definitely a conversation starter with people of either gender.

However, I think it's silly how a lower back tattoo is considered a tramp stamp. My best friend is a 25 year old virgin and has a butterfly tattoo on on her lower back. People do assume she is promiscuous because of it though.

I agree with JS250.

I've oodles of feet tattoos, and here in China the rules are different. In China I am a "bad girl" meaning I'm so very easy. Which is very true if it is with someone who turns me on. Unfortunately, the majority of men just really don't turn me on.

In North America and with other foreigners I have met through the world, those who have seen my tattoos- well it opens up a conversation or can be a way to strike up a conversation rather than the boring old, "how's the weather?". It is almost like, they see them, and suddenly, I am not stuck up.

See!!! That is what I question.

I got my tattoos on my feet because I got them for me and I wanted to see them. Having ass antlers, why would a person get those? You cannot see it, you cannot enjoy it because you cannot see it... why get it there?

That has always caused me great confusion!
