Are the user uploaded photos on products getting out of hand?

I like to view the user uploaded photos when I'm looking into getting a new toy. However, I'm kinda shocked when I see obvious "Google" uploaded photos or people who post the same damn photo as as another user under a diffrent name. hopefully i didn't lose you there. basically what I'm saying is, there's people with dual accounts farming for points.
I'm not sure if this is policed in a sense of the word, but man it rubs me the wrong way to see all of these google images uploaded as user pics, or two "diffrent" users posting the same exact pics just for points.
Does anyone else wish we could flag uploaded product photos to stop this crap? less

Good call. Because I have seriously noticed a few users uploading "Google Images" and a few with seperate user names uploading the same exact photos, only diffrence is the other user's images are zoomed in! Which is a slap in the face in my mind. I upload photos, and some are actually pretty shitty quality because my ipod camera sucks, but still, it just really rubs me the wrong way to see 15 photos that are all the same,. Some look seriously close to te EF photos as well, which is just plain laughable. less

I have to disagree. I take a lot of photos and upload them. It takes me a fair amount of time to take them so that they're a good quality, and then it takes forever to upload them one at a time. It only seems fair that users should be compensated for that effort.

The images that Rod Renold is talking about aren't of products at all. I love it when people upload their own images of a product, you get a much better idea of what the product looks like. However, there are people uploading scenery images, personal photos, etc. I think adding a flag option is a smart idea, and perhaps even a staff thread could be started letting new users understand that the upload feature on pages is for product photos, not personal ones. less

I've noticed that too. I noticed one person who uploaded the same exact picture to the product page multiple times, for points I assume.

Anyway, I sent a PM to someone on staff about it - and then forget about it. From what I understand, since that is such a new feature still, there isn't necessarily a super clear cut policy of what is ok and what isn't. So if you see something sketchy, PM the staff and let them sort it out. less

I just want to point out that a lot of those close up copies are not by the owner of the original photo! While I agree that seeing the same picture posted by multiple user names looks like they must all be the same person, many are just copies another user made of the original, maybe changed a bit, such as zooming in, or cropping it & then re-uploaded.

If you see this, please report it to JR or Stormy. They'll want to know the screen name, the page & which exact pictures you're talking about.

I agree that all uploaded photos should be by the actual photographer! Using commercial & other copyrighted photos is against the law unless you received permission! less
