Are you a writer?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
I just discovered Stormy is working on a novel! I also found out the other day that SincerelyN is as well. I believe KyotoAngel is, too, or maybe she is doing a screen play? I already knew Starlight Requiem is a writer because I read his erotica (it's good). And I don't think it's a secret that Kendra30752 is a writer and published in many magazines. (I know there are people I am forgetting at the moment, darn it.)

Anyway, I am very intrigued because I didn't suspect any of this when I met them all and most just casually mentioned it. I think writing is a wonderful thing, especially because I love to read and appreciate the time and talent involved in good writing. Personally, I do not like to write. I can do it and it's better if I am passionate about the topic, but I find it more like a school assignment and am more of a talker, lol!

So, who else is a writer? Tell us what you are working on, a novel, screen play, magazine or journal article? Do you write for a living? Or is this a hobby of yours?

Right you are, I'm actively working on the first of what I'm hoping will be a series of fantasy novels.
The screen play is on hold for now, but I keep jotting down details so I don't forget them when I get time to sit down and start it. I', getting the feeling it's probably going to wind up rated "R" if it ever does get turned into a movie though...some of the ideas I have for medical related ways for the antagonist to murder people are downright nasty.

I don't write for a living (though lord knows that would be a dream come true...to actually become a successful novelist and be able to make a living doing something I love.), but back in High School I did consider a career in journalism for a while.
I've written an "article" or two that I just keep tucked away in my binder full of miscellaneous writings or artwork.

I have several projects in my head, but am only working actively on one.

I'm hoping to write what will be a series of fantasy novels focusing on what happens as societies crumble and the gray space between good and evil. Its a really complicated plot that isn't even really shown in the first book, which I'm currently working on, and most of the characters whose points of view I use aren't even the actual main characters of the main plot - in essence, the main plot is told through a series of reactions to the main plot and sub plots. The main main character never gets a point of view. Its a lot of fun to write.

My other projects are set in real life with some supernatural elements, though nothing that cannot be explained with science. A couple are mysteries. They're much shorter books, though, and projects that I'll focus on when I finally get that fantasy book out of my head.

I'm also a published poet and have had some academic publications.

Wow, terrific replies already! Thanks SincerelyN and KyotoAngel for responding and sharing with us some of what you do/plan to do!

I can hardly wait to see these awful medical murders KyotoAngel! And SincerelyN, you already know I am excited to read your work, too! I did not know about the poetry and academic publications! Good for you!

Anyone else? Please share; at the very least I am interested, but I can pretty much guarantee others will be as well!

I am. Writing is how I got involved in the whole livejournal scene and I've participated in NaNoWriMo twice. I found it really difficult to sit down and write the recommended word count for the day when it comes NaNo..., but I did find that it helped me be less critical of my work in general.

That being said, I have no less than 20 notebooks with ideas and story arcs written in them; a bunch that have multiple pages torn out and discarded.

Here's my biggest problem: I'm writing a story that has no ending. Or at least not until one of the two main characters is no longer of this world. (The novel is about my life with a few creative licenses taken, but for the most part it's dead on balls accurate and will be published under a pseudonym.)

Though, I have not touched it in over six months, I plan on picking it up again. There are new things to add.

Are you planning on joining this year?

My username on there is the same as this one if you want a writing buddy. =3
WriteOrDie really helps you stay on target with the word goal, I find.

I could never do NaNoWriMo. It's just not for me, though I know it does wonders for some people.

My biggest problem is really including just enough of the main plot to make the reader be aware of it instead of it all being subplot that revolves around the main plot. It's a pain, but I've recently figured out solutions to some of my major problems.

I wouldn't say I'm a writer, just a wannabe writer. LOL. I have three stories I'm working on. I work on one for a while and then another will want my attention so I'll switch. Who knows when I'll finish them at the rate I'm going. I wish I could stay home all day and write---stupid day job!!! It's so exciting to hear of so many others working on things also. We have a great community full of talented people here on Eden.

You're definitely a writer. I wish I could stay home and write all the time as well! It would be amazing. One day, I definitely will. What are your stories about?
