Bomb Threats

This is half me venting/half me asking for real opinions on a solution...

I got to a large state university for my masters. With the exception of one real threat that was actually off campus, we have not had any real violence or threats of violence here.

Since October 26th, there have been 6 bomb threats called into the school. 4 of them have been in the last two days. From the limited information that the students were given, the original person was identified and arrested as well as expelled. It was a hoax. He apparently wanted to know our university's response time...seriously?

Well...it's a class four FELONY. Nice job...jack ass. So, this person apparently was also expelled but there have been 5 more hoax threats since then. It is unclear if any are the same person as the first, but at least two were called in by the same person (unclear if it is the original one or not).

Anyways...so I'm getting pissed at this. For one, how stupid and asinine do you have to be to do this...more than once?

My boyfriend and I were thinking that at first we didn't feel threatened at all. But now...we started thinking that it would be the perfect time for someone to actually do something...because no one is taking this stuff seriously anymore. It could be a set up from the start.

I would love to see this person, or whomever it is if there are more, in prison for a long time. But I'm more concerned with my university. What should they do to this person that they have not already? Do you feel they should have been expelled? Worse? More? What would you do as a student in this situation? Would you be angry that it is still going on? Would you be concerned?

What is society doing wrong that makes doing something like this amusing to some people?!!?!?

I honestly believe that some people do this stuff just for attention. I think this person needs to be prosecuted, but he/she also needs counseling. With counseling, I hope this person will eventually make it back into school. I'm a Crim Justice major, and it's been shown that those who lose everything (being expelled from school, being outcast by society/family, etc.), are more likely to continue to commit crimes. If they receive the help they need and begin to succeed, they can often go on to be productive members of society.
