Got professional training in soccer from about 6 years old, all the way through college. If nothing else I got scholarships, leadership, and physical training out of it that I used in the Army. I was not quite good enough to go pro, but if I would have trained more in ages 20-22 I would have had a better chance. I got married at 20, and it is hard to justify the extra work needed to be at an elite level, when you need to support your family. Anyway, if you aren't a pro by 15, you probably aren't going to play where the big money is at, Europe.

I had private tennis lessions weekly from about age 12-18 and would have semi-private lessons with one or two other students twice a week all throughout the year. That was in addition to having tennis practice with my high school almost every day during tennis season (only 3 months long), so it was a bit of overkill at times. I think my dad had some delusion that I would become a pro tennis player.

I also played on a few different sports teams in school, but I don't really consider those lessons since they were in groups and I never got a whole lot of individual attention like I did with tennis.

Music! Six years of playing flute in the school concert band. I switched to a street band later on, quite a bit more fun and with sillier uniforms. =P

I was in a bowling league for a few years as a kid. I never really cared for that, and still cringe when someone asks me to go bowling now.

I took ballet for a year and a half in middle school, and really enjoyed it.

Took some piano as a kid, but after that I started getting really into theatre and singing through school and community groups. I ended up learning a lot through doing.
