Once in a while, especially if he's not feeling well (usually just an upset tummy, he tends to eat a little too fast sometimes).
But most of the time we talk to him like we would talk to a child of about 8-9.

I smother my dogs with affection. And I smother other people's dogs. I just love animals, and that includes having conversations with them. Some of it is baby talk, but most of it is just talking to them. They are smart, and have picked up my vocal patterns, so the way they respond to them is really neat.

My mom owns a tiny dog. Never liked them until this one. I baby talk her occasionally.

I don't know if it's baby talk so much as a different way of talking, higher voice, stuff like that. But I do talk to them all the time & other people's pets, too. I talk to any animal including the deer & the birds, it's how I communicate, so it's natural to do, just like a dog would bark.

my wife and i were just talking about this. i tried to get her to talk to me like she talks to the dog...just for kicks. she refused. and she hates babytalkers. and she is one. ha!
