Having worked in thrift, I'm glad to give back to it. As is, about 95% of my clothing comes from thrift anyway. Not only do I give it back (in the same or better condition), I don't feel so guilty about wanting a new wardrobe once a year. Having such a self-perpetuating cycle of reuse-recycle is totally win-win.

Yep my fiance' has a habit of allowing me to get new wardrobes to compliment the season so i let my friends come in and pick out what they want and the rest i give to the salvation army or the good will

I tend to buy from goodwill and so on, but I don't think I've ever had clothes that I didn't wear till they outright broke, I had to sew up again, and then got holes in them well beyond the point of repair. On the rare occasions I outgrow clothes and couldn't repurpose them, I donate though.

We usually have a yard sale, or give them to my mother's friend who has a yard sale (though she did open up a store that sells new and used items, but she gives us credit for giving her stuff).

I donate whenever my clothes are in good enough condition to keep being worn. I wear a lot of stuff for long enough that the garments develop holes or get pit stains, so that stuff goes in the trash or gets repurposed.
