Do you eat sushi?

Contributor: Naughty Student Naughty Student
I haven't had sushi since I lived in Vancouver BC! They are so cheap on the West coast bcs there are a lot of Asians ( as well as other cultures). Over on the East coast, sushi is very expensive!

I would like to take some sushi making lessons some day!

I love love love sushi. Of all kinds. I don't often have a chance to eat good sushi where I live though. If I did, I would eat a lot more of it. My husband is not a real fan though. He likes a very specific order of sushi. Plain tuna and rice. Other than that, it's Maki or Tempura for him.

Yes. In fact, we make our own sushi at home now; the ingredients are pretty basic and it really isn't very time consuming once you get the hang of it!

I tried it once, and wasn't thrilled - it's not the taste I don't like but the consistency of the fish. However, I had it (and it was technically Sashimi, not sushi) at someplace that's apparently not the best place to try it, so next time I have the chance I'll probably try it again.

Vegetarian sushi only. We have a place we go to that has excellent tofu tempura/cream cheese sushi. The one with sweet Potato is very good too, plus the usual avocado & cucumber versions.

I went once (last year) to an all you can eat sushi place and I shall never go again. Well that's not true. I wouldn't go to eat the sushi, but I really like the vegetable and fruit tempura they offered, so maybe I'd go for that. yummm

we eat sushi once a month. It is ok here. Not the greatest, but not bad. It is so much better in Japan. Even at a cheap restaurant out side of the city. And sushi means "seasoned rice" You can put anything on it you want. Does not have to be raw fish.

I love sushi. Anything with that crab filling. Toppings are a plus. When I go to my favorite buffet I order plates of salmon sashimi. It comes thickly sliced and is just absolutely delicious.

I do enjoy some of it, I'm not a big fan of white fish sashimi. It's too strong for my tastes.

Arguably the most common variant of sushi in North America is the California roll and that typically has crab, avocado, cucumber and sesame seeds.

I'm completely baffled by the number of people who've posted they won't eat sushi because they dislike raw fish, fish, any seafood, or any meat. The original post in this thread and followup discussion point out that sushi doesn't have to contain fish, seafood or meat.

I detest the smell/taste/texture of fish. And Im also not a big fan of cucumbers, which find there way into almost all vegetarian sushi, so.

I can't stand fish and most vegetables, so although I'd like to try it, I am yet to find any that actually sounds appealing.

I voted for "there's no way" only because I'm a vegetarian. I'm open to new food ideas as long as they don't involve meat.

EDIT: I just saw the bit in the original post about some sushi not having fish in it. I've never seen it, but that would sound interesting.

We both tried it once (I convinced him to try it on our first date) and hated it. Maybe the veggie sushi P'Gell posted would be good though.
