Do you have any non-mint flavors of toothpaste to recommend?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
In the Dental Hygiene discussion by AliMc, I discovered JR has a similar aversion to mint flavored toothpastes as I do. He suggested two flavors/brands that he found & I want to try, Nature's Gate Anise Cream and Tom's Orange toothpastes.

We both despise children's toothpaste flavors, so recommendations for those, (unless not sickeningly sweet), are not going to work.

I know I want something that doesn't burn the crap out of my mouth, make my eyes water & give me a runny nose! With most flavors, I feel like flames are shooting out of my mouth, or fumes that could strip paint!

Anybody else have this problem? What have you tried?

Please, if you have any ideas, suggest them below, thanks!

I usually go with Aquafresh Kids, as I can't stand anything spicy or very minty. It's not TOO sweet. Alert-ed this poll for recommendations!

I was actually going to say Tom's Orange. My cousin is similar to you and asked her dentist for recommendations. She loves Tom's Orange and has even tried to get me to use it (I like mint though). Hope you find something that works for you!

I highly recommend Desert Essence toothpastes. They have four flavors, and I've tried three: wintergreen, ginger, and fennel (which tastes like licorice root). They're nontraditional flavors and while they do have zest, they are not likely to burn your mouth like big name brand toothpastes. This is mainly because they don't contain the harsh detergent agents.

Yep, can't tolerate spicy either, burns just as much, darn it! So cinnamon & clove are out for me, but if anyone knows a brand of those, others might enjoy them. I tried neem, but it burned me too.

Thanks! I tried SLS free, hoping that was the problem, but it wasn't. I'm going to try Tom's orange for sure!

Thanks for the suggestions, I have a Whole Foods close by & recognize the brand name. I'll check them out!

Crest had a lemon ice, and a vanilla one a while back. I have not seen them lately, but then I have not looked.

I tried those, thanks! They were much better, but burned, too, though not as badly.

It's strange, back in high school, I loved & searched for the strongest mint toothpaste & nothing was ever good enough. I even used warm water to increase the refreshing power! Well, they certainly figured out how to make powerful flavors these days, just when I can't handle them anymore, darn it!

Thanks, that's too hot for me, too. I think I'm just a pain in the ass! I thank you for the suggestion because someone else might be able to use it!
