Do you kill...

Contributor: eri86 eri86
Insects and spiders on your own, or do you need someone to kill them for you?

I can kill them on my own. Mostly because when we were growing up, my older sister wouldn't. And if our parents weren't home, it was the only way I could get her to stop freaking out. So I learned to suck it up and kill them.

Depends on whether I can reach it or not; if it's on the ceiling, my husband will be the one to deal with it.

I don't kill spiders and some insects and instead move them outside, but for ones I do kill, I just kill them myself.

I live by myself, so I have to deal with them on my own. I try and catch it with a cup and put it outside though.

I prefer to relocate them as well. However when I've seen a Brown Recluse inside my house, I do kill them.

Certain bugs I am okay killing on my own, like wasps and bees which is kind of silly since I'm allergic but I cant kill spiders on my own, I'm terrifide of the spiders so I have had instances where I was in the house alone and had to call a friend to come relocate a spider

I take care of them when I am home alone. When my husband is home, I get him to do it.

Yeah--they do not bother me at all. If I can I will pick them up and take them outside--otherwise a quick smack deals with the issue. My hubby, though...is TERRIFIED of spiders. Believe me I find it kind of cute when this big, muscular 6'3" guy is grabbing little 5'2" me so I can kill a spider for him!!!

I'm terrified of spiders. I always yell for my partner or my dad, depending on who's home. If I'm alone, I'll kill it or trap and it and leave it for my partner to deal with later.

I only kill mosquitoes that are trying to eat me.

If it's within reach, me. If it's out of reach or is a wasp, that's husband's problem.

We take care of this ourselves - not sure what the big deal is. For sanitary reasons you can't have roaches and ants crawling around your house. The same for spiders. Although having a few spiders inside isn't as big of a deal as other insects - it's best if they are kept outside.

my wife or I will take care of it. The older boy is starting to do it on his own. The younger one is still scared of them. We don't have any poisonous ones around or area, so I am not worried about them taking care of the insects.

I'll take care of anything, except a spider. I'm terrified of spiders, so my boyfriend can take care of those!

I either kill them, or relocate them outside depending on what kind of insect they are. I try to get to them before the dog or cat, because those 2 will show no mercy!

I'm no good at it.Your situation sounds a lot like my little sister. Now I kind of feel bad. I could never do it, so she would suck it up and do it for me so I would stop freaking out.

Whatever I come across, I just grab a shoe and smack until it's dead. Unless it's a scorpion. When I first started finding them, I would throw them all into a Pyrex dish because I'd heard that if you stuck scorpions in close quarters they'd fight to the death. Yeah. It took two months before that happened. For the most part, they all just cuddled up together. They became my pets and I named every single one of them.

I kill most small bugs on my own, but I get someone else to get the larger ones. If they're completely harmless, like moths, I put them outside.

I relocate harmless ones when left to my own devices, but my mom and sister freak out about bugs, so they'll insist that I come and kill it if they see something, so the poor things have to die

if I can't reach it, it must not be bothering me. If it is bothering me I tend to take it outside.
I find no reason to kill things just because I don't like them

A lot of spiders are actually beneficial to a home since they kill and eat more annoying bugs like flies and mosquitoes. I used to put all the spiders I found in my house in my garden when I had one.

@ Cinnyree, Exactly! Well said!

I try not to kill any bugs or insects; I relocate them. I am so surprised & delighted to see all the others here who do the same!

Now, the only ones I kill are all inside mosquitoes or ants, (and I suppose roaches, but I've never had them). I have these new windows where the screens slide up. So if a fly gets in the house, I wait till it inevitably goes to the window & slide open the screen & it flies right out, easy peasy, love it! I might kill a dangerous spider, rather than chance getting bitten when I relocate it. The only other time I kill a spider, is if it's winter & it's slowly dying inside with no food, I hate watching something suffer!

Depends. I kill them by myself, but if my partner's around and the bug is higher than I can reach, he does it. He had to this morning. It was a huge spider. HATE THEM. But yes, I kill them unless he's closer.

Someone is flagging people & says they are doing it to try & get banned, makes no sense to me, but deleting their own account would be easier & less grief for everyone! What a pain in the ass, regardless, there is nothing wrong with your comment!
