Do you know how to ballroom dance?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
I do, but haven't in years & years, ever since my mother made me take private ballroom dancing lessons. I doubt I remember anything & have no intention of trying, unless in private! If I could brush up on it with someone, I would love to go dancing! I do other dancing, just informal for fun & for the most part don't care, but it's harder when people are really judging you, I hate that!

I've hardly danced in general! I'm not very coordinated and have never had the chance to change that.

Went to lessons once and would like to again. I used to do waltzes and tangos on roller skates and love dancing.

I don't dance no more, but I think at one point I did know how to ballroom dance.

I did cotillion in middle school (no I am not from the 18th century) so I did all of the different ballroom dances and styles. It's pretty fun, some dances are really lame but tango and swing dancing is super fun.

Would like to do it again but I feel like I'd be super creepy single guy and I have no idea where to go. I didn't think anyone does ballroom anymore.

Oh, I'd probably be all over the place. Never done it, but I do wish I was a good dancer. I too would probably want to do so in private. lOL. I'm sure I'd be a hard student to teach something like dancing to! About the only dancing I've done is the kind that looks like a lot of seizures in the living room, with zero people around. I even close the blinds. lol. It is a lot of fun though. I have danced at dances when we were in high school & middle school & there, my friends and I did not care how stupid we looked. lol. Gosh. I bet we really embarrassed ourselves! It was always fun though.

I ended up in the private lessons because I wasn't able to do the cotillion, but my siblings did it! Thank God I was able to get out of debuting! I just knew I was going to fall down that damn staircase, or something equally embarrassing!

We could practice together & since I'm so much older than you, I'd be the creep, not you! Actually, lots of women find guys who can dance really hot! And in all the classes that allow singles in, the men are in high demand! The fact that you already know everything would make you very in demand. Not everyone who's learning wants to be stuck partnered with the instructor/pros, it makes you feel inept; better to have the non-creepy guy ease you into it!

Seizures! JR joked about that, too, for himself, saying the bystanders were trying to intervene, ha ha! I do the dance like a fool in the house thing, too and don't even bother with the windows anymore - if they are rude enough to look in, they deserve the horror! I'm glad you had friends that you could just have fun dancing with. I didn't give a damn after a while, it was fun & I was better than most of the losers judging me, so

I think I'm just embarrassed to have forgotten so much & not kept it up & now I'm so old, people assume I know it & am proficient! I'm sure once I swallow my pride & get over that, I would be okay, but I just don't have much opportunity for ballroom anymore. I love watching it & wished I had an easy going group to practice with. Maybe someone will offer it at the community center!

My wife and I Latin dance. We have done very little ballroom dancing since its a bit more structured. We did it often before kids. We are hoping to get back out there again very soon.

I understand how, even know a couple of dances. But I feel super awkward, like I'm stumbling every few steps. So I really don't enjoy it.
