Do you listen to your heart or your brain?

Contributor: Wicked Wahine Wicked Wahine
Do you follow what your heart? Or are you more of a "thinker" in making decisions? Maybe you do both or one or the other in certain situations?

I usually follow my brain, but listen to & am influenced by my heart.

Some things I have a knee jerk response to & follow my heart right away, for example, if I see animal cruelty.

How about you?

I'm 50% logical, 50% emotional.

80% heart, 20% head. My head usually just gets in the way...haha, I'm way over analytical if I go with my head.

I take both into account. I don't want to make a completely emotional or emotionless decision.

I consider both but there's more emphasis on the logical and analytical.

I mostly follow my brain, which tends to keep me single. But sometimes me heart sneaks in, and I end up getting close to people

My heart leads the way most often, but in certain areas of life I think with my brain first. I think it really depends on the situation, but I'll lean towards heart.

I use both. My first response is my heart, then my head and a bit of my intuition follows. It really depends on the situation.

Great questions, by the way!!

Initial reaction is with my heart. If I see some sort of injustice (like racism, animal cruelty, abuse, etc.), I will act based on my instincts. For major decisions, I employ both logic and emotions.

A combination of the two.

I've followed my heart (or insecurity, take your pick), so everyone told me to use my head and I did. Then a major situation with C happened ... logic said to end it all and forget he even existed. After asking around, I was told to use my heart this time (since the insecurity had finally been throttled quiet) and I went with my gut. It worked out.

Psh! I listen with my penis. LOL. I'm just kidding, but I couldn't resist. Ha. Ha.

Honestly, I think I listen to my heart way over my brain. I don't know that I'd even know if my brain was the one doing the speaking! Lol. I think I'm to used to going by my heart, but it actually works out for me. Or maybe it's a balance of the two (heart & brain). I don't know, but I definitely think my heart is louder than my brain most of the time.

my brain for most everything. I find that feelings just tend to cause trouble.

I'm really not sure which I tend to follow. I think that I'm very different depending on different situations. When it comes to things like my education, work life or anything money-related, I'm a head thinker. When it comes to things like what friends I make, when I state my opinion and when I choose to hold back, I'm definitely a heart-headed individual.

You got me good with that! I left it wide open, didn't I?

I would have guessed you use your heart more & I believe that's one of the reasons everyone loves you so much! You have a generous, kind heart so it doesn't lead you astray!

Love the "heart-headed" description, very clever!

You know, I think you just described me, I'm very similar in what I follow & when!

I try to be 50-50.

At some aspects I'm more brain-centered like buying stuff or planning my life.
In relationships I'm more heart-centered.

I have to admit i'm very much the same, specially when it comes to animal abuse or jokes on behalf of assault victims (like rape and domestic abuse). Most always i will give a lot of thought to something and calculate my response/action i will take but it's almost always influenced by my heart.

As long as our hearts are "pure", we can only benefit from their influence, right? And some things just don't give you time for more than a visceral reaction. I find when studying what I did, after the fact, that I wouldn't have done any differently had I the time to ponder my decision. A lifetime spent in self-reflection helps with this.
