Do you live in an apartment? Do you have inspections?

He came inside your apartment while you were sleeping! Talk about absolutely creepy! I would freak out. I'd be calling whoever is in charge of that place and making a huge problem. That is in NO way cool. He should be fired for that.

I'm so glad I don't live in an apartment. I rent, but my landlord has NEVER bugged us in the 5 years we have lived here. They never want to come in and inspect anything.

we do have inspections but it is only 1-2 times a yr, and from the problems you have I would move they have to give you a 24hr notice before they enter your apartment for any reason

I don't currently live in an apartment, but have in the past. I Did hate inspections.

What got me one time is people were throwing stuff down their disposals that they shouldn't have. (Like a lot of grease) And being on the bottom floor we had a sewer back up. I'm talking black sludge to the brim of the sinks and over flowing.

Naturally I called, the smell was awful...they did what they could for the day, but the bulk of the work was going to be the next day. Told me they'd have to rip out the counters to get to the clog, blah blah.

Basically it involved emptying the entire kitchen. And you know how apartments have no storage space, so when they came the next day I had crap ALL over the place.

They got the problem fixed and the next day I get a notice saying our apartment is not satisfactory, and I need to clean. I didn't know whether to laugh, cry or go have serious words with management.

When I lived in an apartment, they would always leave a note on the door of when the inspection would be.

Well, me and my boyfriend took the blankets off the windows (the house was so bright, ugh) and we sat out in the living room ALL DAY LONG. Since 9am to 5pm, the time it said on the note we got on our door. My boyfriend slept on the couch all day and I sat there and watched tv for hours until my brain was numb. lol. I'm just tired. We put the blankets back up and made our rooms nice and dark and now we're going to bed.

I live in Southern California and my complex has inspections. Maybe once or twice a year. They give you a notice that they're coming on x day between 9-5 usually. Sometimes they'll end up not coming and postponing it a few days. I hate that because I have hamsters. You aren't supossed to have pets so I keep hiding them in the closet when they come over. One time they came for an inspection while I was in the shower. I heard them knocking. I tried to get out and get a towel, but they just bardged in. When I complained, the lady was just like "We're all human, no need to be ashamed". Hello, I'm a young lady, I don't want to show my naked body off to random people! So now they won't just come in my apartment. The last time they had to come over, they didn't replace my lightbulbs, so I had to have them come out again. I left my hamsters out and they didn't say anything.
I just feel so uneasy about someone coming into my home when I am not here. Whether it's their job to do it or not.

I'm pretty sure all apartments have inspections to some extent. It is kind of annoying but you have to deal with it.

I don't currently live in an apartment but I have lived in several through college and before we bought a house. I would check your state laws because that may be illegal. In most places we have lived they had to give 24 hours notice before they could enter for routine maintance or to show the appartment. I've never had to deal with inspections though.

In our building, they come in two times a year to spray for bugs in the kitchen and bathroom. They also check the smoke alarm and bring a new air filter. I am sure they also use that as a chance to check up and see if we are keeping things neat and all. I thought we were kinda messy until I started to see some of the crap they took the the dumpsters when other tenants moved out...gross! They can come in when no one is home for this, which I don't like, because we have two dogs, and I have to lock them up for the spraying and they are not happy when I do that.

I live in a condo and our landlords are honestly terrible. It's a college town so they manage MANY properties and most of their tenants don't understand the WA State Landlord-Tenant Act and their rights. Because of this, my landlords take advantage of students. We've lived in our unit since June 1st and we still don't have working smoke detectors, even though they knew all of ours were broken the day we moved in. Our kitchen faucet is also broken but they haven't been out to fix it and it's been a week.

But at least we don't have inspections! The only real inspection is the move-out check-out. They do stop by every property over the school's winter break to make sure the heater is on and there isn't anything near the heaters. We get pretty cold winters and most units are empty over the break when students go home so this "inspection" is understandable.

your situation sounds exactly like mine! We live in Section 8 housing, since the government pays they do inspections constantly and it drives me nuts! ug I hate them too since I never know when in the day they're coming.
