Do you text or talk on the phone while driving?

Be honest. I know it's illegal in some places to do one or both of these. I'm just curious.

I'm always on the phone when I drive but I have Bluetooth in my car so I'm not actually holding the phone. That makes it slightly less dangerous I suppose.

I'll text every five seconds so long as my son isn't in the car. If he's with me I only text/check email at red lights.

I kinda have a phone addiction. X.x

I'm constantly on the phone if I'm driving, but I'm on my headset which is perfectly legal here. I text sometimes but try to do it at red lights, etc.

I tend to use it for directions and text but only when I'm stopped at stop signs or lights.

I'll text from red lights, but that's about it. I have no problems being on the phone, and I know I should get a headset, but I don't do much driving to begin with now and I'm on the phone even less while I'm driving, so I haven't bothered to get one that doesn't hurt my ears.

The only time I'll text or talk on the phone while driving is if it's an emergency situation. Other than that, the phone can wait.

if i'm at a red light, or at a stop sign w/ no one around, i MIGHT send a quick text. i never do it while i'm actually driving, though. i'll talk on my phone, but usually just to let someone know i'm on my way, or get directions, or ask about the weather like if i'm going to hit any rain on my way somewhere. i used to have a blue tooth head piece that i kept in the car b/c that's the only place i used it, but something in it broke, so now i need a new one. i might actually call someone to talk when i have the blue tooth, but even that's rare b/c i love driving alone.

Lol I'm with KC Kitten...

I text while driving although I only check my texts when there aren't other cars next to me, or I'm at a light (I don't have to actually read while I'm texting)

I do, however do the terrible surfing the net thing while driving :/

I got pulled over once...the cop came over and did the typical "do you know why I've pulled you over" and I was like "I'm guessing speeding?" and he said "no, I pulled you over tonight, because you were texting while driving. You know, that is illegal in this state now?"

So I was like, "uh I wasn't texting..."

him- "I did see you texting on your cell phone"

me- ..."I wasn't texting...I was on facebook"

He actually started LAUGHING! He let me off with a warning, and after the warning walked back to his car, still laughing. I'd said I wouldn't do it again, but I"m sure he knew I would. I wasn't wreckless driving and actually I've had several people tell me that I'm a better driver while using my phone than most people are without using one. I don't look directly at my phone though, ever, not even while reading, so I don't ever actually take my eyes off the road. I get so nervous when people do that thing where they will be on their phone and realize the car in front of them stopped and they have to stop really fast to not hit them...it's sooooo scary!

It's a hefty fine here if caught using your mobile for ANY purpose while driving. In fact, if you want to use it at all while in the car, the car must be turned off completely.

I don't use my phone while driving.

I hate being on my phone while driving. Knowing the statistics about how often cell phones are involved in car accidents is disturbing enough to bother me. I only use it if i have to, say if i need directions or am running late.

I only talk on the phone while driving. I don't text, because I don't like diverting my eyes from the road.

I wouldn't dream of it without a bluetooth hands-free headpiece and even then I'd be wary. Seems too dangerous.

If I get a text at a red light, I might quick read it but I won't reply. If I get a call, I won't answer it until I can pull over somewhere and call them back. Using the phone while driving is illegal here, but even if it wasn't I wouldn't do it. It's hella distracting and I try to respect the fact that driving a car badly can kill someone.

I will sometimes talk on my phone in the car, but not very frequently. And texting, never. I will only look at a text someone sent me if I'm stopped and think it's important otherwise it can almost always wait.

We pull over if possible for texts/directions/phone calls. I'm actually horrified of cars and driving so the other half drives me. On occasion I'll answer his phone or texts for him or look on it for directions. When I'm not there he doesn't answer.
