I think that it can, if there's the ability to see each other frequently. However, proximity is one of the things that keeps couples together, so I'm reluctant to really believe that long-distance can work for very long. A few months, sure. More than that, without seeing each other frequently, probably not.

I'm in a long distance relationship right now with my partner, it's hard but we're doing all right and making plans to move closer together.

It completely depends on the people involved.

One of my favorite married couples is one of my friends and his wife. He met his wife 10 years ago when he was on vacation in England. He says he fell in love with her instantly, but he was only able to see her three times a year -- and only for a week at a time -- for 6 years! Finally they married, and she relocated to the U.S. 4 years later, and they're still going strong.

So..yes, they can work.

I think they have as much chance of working as any other relationship. It's always 50/50.

Depends on the people, I've tried it and it doesn't work for me.

Like all relationships, it depends on a lot of factors. The attitudes of the people involved, the length of time away from one another, how often they talk, and how satisfying the long-distance sex is. Mine didn't work out, but I know several that have.

I was in a long-distance relationship myself several years ago. The long-distance part lasted for about a year and we were several thousand miles apart with only one or two visits during that year. While it was tough at times, it was definitely doable and I'd go so far as to say that our relationship is a lot stronger because of it.

Depends on how committed you are to making it work. Also depends on how easy it is to keep in touch. Lots of factors but it can be done

They can work if you both don't stop working at it.

I think it totally depends on the commitment level of the people involved. If both people work at it, it can work out just fine, if not, then it probably won't. I think that both partners have to be considerate of each other's needs and communicate very well, but it can definitely be done!

I think it can definitely work out if you are committed... I imagine it would be hard though.

Depends on the people I am in my 3rd one! My first one he moved to be with me but had to go back to the state he moved from for Military business ended up lying to me and cheating on me while I remained faithful,my most current ex was an OTR Truck Driver we were lucky if we saw each other every 2 weeks but we made it work for a year it ended for other reasons and that brings me to my now 3rd with a man who lives 2hrs from me an is an OTR Truck Driver as well but we see each other about every 2 weeks for a few hours and we try to talk all the time. He is trying to move closer to where I live so it should become easier. Really depends on the commitment level and everything.

Yes, but it depends on the people and how much effort they are willing to put into making the relationship work.
