Do you think long distance relationships can work?

Also heavily dependent on the circumstances and length of time

It really depends on the couple. I had been in one for five years and I'm in one currently. We're working on changing that though, since we're nearly inseparable through our technology driven relationship.

It really depends on the people and the situation.

My gut reaction is to say no, they do not work. I think you have to be highly independent and not have much of a craving for physical interaction with the person you're involved with in order to feel satisfied in a relationship like that. Most people in relationships are somewhat co-dependent and at the very least desire physical contact on a regular basis. The only caveat to this is that there is a goal to bring the relationship under one roof at some point. If there's something to work towards, it's probably a lot easier.

yes they can work out if it is with the right type of people. if both parties are willing to work at it they can have a happy lasting and loving relationship.

It can, but it's harder than actually seeing each other.

It depends on the people. Some people need to be in a relationship where they see that person everyday and some people can go a while without seeing the other person.

It definitely depends on the people involved but I really think it's possible. Hubby and I had maintained a long distance relationship for almost 3 years before me moving in with him and getting married.

It depends on the people, the situation and how far is the "distance" as well! I was in relationship with someone from Europe (I'm from Canada) and after three years we decided to end it, as the situation was too difficult

It depends on the people but oh my gosh, of course they can work! My fiance and I were apart for four years and only saw each other twice. Neither of us ever cheated or even thought about it. It was hard but it was so worth it. If the people are actually committed and loyal, of course it can work, no problem.

I've seen long distance relationships work great, and lead to happy, long term marriages....but the LONG DISTANCE part, in those cases, always had to come to an end. A permanent separation is not a real relationship in my book.

I think they can, at least for awhile. At some point, I think the distance would have to close.

My boyfriend and I were in a LDR for 2 years until I moved to be with him. You just have to have a lot of trust in the other person.

Depends on the people. It worked out for me. We had a long-distance relationship for about 7 months (I think), and then he moved down here. We've been together 7 years now.

Not everyone is as lucky, but it can work if both people work for it!

I plan on it working out. My fiance and I live 3 hours apart. We plan on getting married next September, and I won't be moving up by her until my youngest graduates HS in 6 more years. It has worked for the last 2 years, so I'm certain it will work for the next 6, and then some after that.

I'm in one now and it's working really well whereas I have tried it once before and it was a disaster. It depends on the people involved.

It definitely depends on the people involved. If both people don't want to put in the time and effort into the relationship it will never work.

I think it can on the short-term, but eventually you need to be together and see how well you really know the person and if you're truly compatible.
