Do you worry about what other people will think if you change your behavior on the forums?

Contributor: Gone (LD29) Gone (LD29)
If you change your behavior on the forums, do you worry about what other people will think? For example, I've been thinking about following some contributors who interest me, but I've previously said that I make it a point to not follow anyone. Now I'm stuck worrying about my previous statement not matching up with what I'm doing because I changed my mind.

Is this something I should even bother to worry about? Do you ever have this kind of dilemma thinking back over things you've previously said on the forums?

You're crazy - do what you want regardless of what you've previously said.

I used to say I do not follow anybody, but changed my mind after I became friends with another EFer. Just do whatever suits you, no one will pick on you.

Things change and so do people so why not if you want to follow them then follow

In this case I see no problem, after all we all enjoy our freedom to do as we please. If someone thinks less of you for doing something you want they are not worth a second thought.

Do you really think we're paying that much attention to what you wrote before? We all have the right to change our minds - don't sweat the small stuff!

Oh who cares? Don't worry about that. I mean who cares if you've had a change of mind? It's not a big deal. I tend not to care much what people think because it's just not a huge thing to me, unless it's my family. However, I highly doubt your situation would cause others to think negatively of you.

I don't change how I feel or how I behave here just because of what others may think. My way of thinking is, if they happen to disagree with what I do/say then that's no big deal. That doesn't mean we can't still be friends or enjoy each other--usually. And if they happen to agree, nice. Usually though, people here are going to respect you and your opinions and still be fine with you.

It's not like making this simple change of mind makes you some kind of hypocrite. It's a minor thing.

No. I of all people do not think it's anything to worry about. And I tend to worry way too much about tiny things. Just have fun. If you want to follow people great! It'll only make people more friendly toward you, no matter what you felt previously. They'll just think you've decided to branch out more, open up and make some friends.

Now I may well feel one way about somethign and voice it and have my feelings change on it later. It's just what happens.

People change their minds all the time. Something like what you stated shouldn't matter to anyone if you decide to follow people now. It's your business anyway.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback!

I pretty much knew deep down that I was just being incredibly silly. Sometimes I just have this paranoia that's kind of hard to shake. Thanks for making me feel better about it!

Follow Rossie. I do. And she's never disappointed me yet. Only she is lying. I pick on everyone.

Meh. You know what?

Anyone who claims they've not changed lies. You grow, cells divide and die, your hair grows, your skin colour changes this time of year... everyone changes. And so does your opinion and ideas over time.

Who cares if you once said you'd not follow anyone, you've learnt that it is sometimes better to follow people. But not like a sheep or a llama mind you.

And with the way the Forums go faster than lightning???? Chances are, most people never even read that thread. I know I hadn't.

So don't worry about it!!!!!

Seconded. People change so you shouldn't fret over something so minor; life's too short for that, hun.

That's something very small, so I wouldn't worry about that. If your 'life story' wasn't consistant, that might be a problem!

Go ahead and follow someone if you want to, it doesn't matter what you said before, because we all change our minds.

Have a great day!

Agreed with everyone. Opinions and points of view continue to change over time. After all, some of us wanted to be ballerinas or astronauts when were kids - but fortunately our aspirations changed over time, because we aren't those things today.

Life's too short - do what you want to do!

If you want comedy, you should have seen me flip-flop between meeting a partner online and not meeting anyone from online - all in one thread.

Really, it doesn't matter - do what makes you happy as long as no one gets hurt.

PS - Pet the llama. You'll feel better.

If you did not change and grow--that would be the time to worry. A lot of the time in the earliness of being on EF, we say and do things much differently than we do after some experience and time on the site. do what you want, if anyone asks, tell them it is a great thing to grow and progress on the site.

Dude, pet the llama. It's fuzzy.

And follow the llama, too; it knows all the cool hidey holes.

If we think you're weird for following the llama, well I guess we aren't cool enough to begin with.
