It's ok Scott. We'll all be nerds together.

I have read a book or two where I liked the movie better, but nothing based in a fantastical world.

I did see Eragon before I read it and my husband was pissed off the entire movie and I liked the movie. Until I read it a couple years later and rewatched the movie. What a botch!

I am more of a geek! LOVE board games! Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Risk, Zombies, Killer Bunnies, Chez Geek, you name it and I will play it! I also love sci fi movies and books as well as anything Marvel or Super Hero. I am also a huge horror movie geek. Love any an all...even the really cheesy ones! BIG Vampire geek, True Blood, Buffy, Vampire Diaries...etc... LOVE Joss Whedon! Actually got to see him accept the Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Cultural Humanism at Harvard. Was amazing....My hubby and I are such geeks we usually go to the award ceremony every year....this year it was Jaime and Adam from Mythbusters which was equally amazing....another thing I love that is geeky...Mythbusters! I could go on and on about my Geekisms!

General all-round geek here and proud! Random readings of encyclopaedias, learning the longest words, and such random facts since I was young. Teaching myself chess, watching star wars, star trek, dabbling in some computer languages. Still a girly girl, but most of my interests are more on the 'male geek' spectrum, without generalising too much!

Yeah. I don't know if people think I'm a "dumb slut", but I can relate. I don't look like a nerd/geek/dork at all? I like heels, well-dressed men, classy things, occasionally like to party. I come off as an airhead, I guess, until we start talking past small talk. I might snort with laughter at an overheard RPG joke, start ranting about the ups and downs of cosplay culture, or gush over my model kits. I am book-smart on a variety of things, have tutored college friends on a variety of topics. Often a listener is more often mildly disturbed than impressed. But the disturbed ones might be fewer and fewer people as "nerd" "dork" "geek" does not have the same meaning as it used to. Almost everyone is a nerd, dork, geek to some degree now, for better or worse.

I'm not sure what my geek/nerd/dork title would be... I love Harry Potter, not ashamed to admit I love some of the HPfanfics... Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Doctor Who, Top Gear, Star Wars, the original Tron, Dune, Nova, some PBS cooking shows, Good Eats with Alton Brown. I really am a cooking nerd though... I LOVE to cook, try new foods, new techniques, new kitchen implements...

I am...was a vampire dork. Back when vampires were awesome (sorry all Twilight fans, don't beat me). I liked vampires back when the cool kids called be 'weird' for it. Before vamps sparkled.

I fall under several categories, some of which aren't up there, but...

I love books. I am a literary nerd and proud of it.
I am a huge movie buff. I will watch pretty much any type of movie, but have very high standards. Tend to go for the award winners and a lot of indie movies.
Love the History Channel, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Travel Channel, Food Network, HGTV... anything that I can learn from.
And the big one- Harry Potter nerd. Love anything and anything to do with Harry Potter.
Also a big theater fan. I will see anything on stage once and if I like it more than once.

Honestly, though... I don't believe in the word normal.

- I am a big video game fan. I play some console games, but most of my history dates back to old PC games from the early '90s. I was in a gaming club in college and made tons of friends there, many of whom I still keep in touch with.

- My last boyfriend was the biggest Star Wars nerd that you will ever meet (probably not much of an exaggeration), and much of that rubbed off on me. I haven't read many of the books, but know a ton of information from browsing Wookieepedia and can recite pretty much all of the movies (or at least the original trilogy).

- I'm a bookworm and proud of it! I learned how to read and write at an early age and never looked back. I now have an English degree.

- I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan as well.

The list could go on and on, but that's all that I can think of for now.

I am a proud OTAKU. I watch anime, read manga, own both a Yukata AND a furisode, go to at least two conventions a year which I always dress up for and when I pack a lunch it is a bento sometimes with onigiri ^_^
no jpop though, no I-pod for that matter...
Not so rabid about sci-fi anymore. My Trekkie tendencies are inherited and I Have not seen anything really awesome since Firefly.

I also had a phase where I watched a bunch of the original Star Trek.

I'm definitely a history nerd, too. These things happen.

OMG I want a furisode!!! But they don't make them for plus-size chicks. I've thought about getting a pattern and some fabric and making one (or finding some talented seamstress to do it) but it's not the same as having a hand-sewn/painted pattern because the pattern isn't supposed to be repeating all over it. Oh well, I'll continue dreaming.

Furisode

NOT NOT NOT NOT a fan of what used to be called "The Camarilla".
I never would have thought! Sabbat were SO much better, I hated the Camarilla. Completely lame. My char was a Tzimisce, what was yours?

I also like Changeling, it made for fantastic storytelling.

My absolute favorite though... Shadowrun when FASA still had it. Seriously seriously epic. It shows up a lot of places too- Deus Ex, for example. The brothers that wrote The Matrix attributed their idea in large part to Shadowrun, the characters are based on Deckers. Don't play the Shadowrun for any of the gaming systems though, they BLOW.

I was SUCH a tabletop RPGing, Magic playing geek! A lot of fun was had over those games.

I'm also a big computer geek, I've always built my own until my most current one. I'm a huge gamer, I've had just about every console on the market at some time or another but I refuse to buy a 360. A 33% failure rate is unacceptable. I'll keep my PS3, thanks.

It's the only thing of his I haven't seen, believe it or not. I know I'll LOVE it, I just haven't made the time (self-flagellation at my horrible fandom). Actually, there are a few things I've missed out on: All the Angel/Spike/Serenity comics, Dr. Horrible's, Alien: Resurrection, Titan AE, and a few other miscellaneous things. But all in all, huge fan.

I'm a nerd, but I don't consider myself extremely smart but thats bcs I underestimate myself a lot. I don't like being smart with people bcs a lot of my nerd friends do it to make others feel stupid or to make themselves look good, and I'm just not like that.

I'm a recovering sci-fi addict--had a very bitter, acrimonious breakup with Star Trek, then later dumped Star Wars as well (though we still get together from time to time). I've replaced it with Russian Futurist poetry, a genre niche so obscure that even literary dorks have never heard of it.

Something's wrong with me.

I would probably classify as a sci-fi dork; I'm into post-apocalyptic, dystopian story lines that involve zombies, cyborgs, whatever - Planet of the Apes, Total Recall, Robocop, They Live, etc. I also love all-American dorkdom like Star Wars and Terminator, and I'm also a huge fan of classic Americana animation from Tom & Jerry to the Simpsons.

Generally I have been known to describe myself as a product of being socialized by nearly all male peers until about 11 years of age. Besides my sisters, every other neighborhood playmate was a boy. Hence I learned to appreciate nerdy rites of passage for young boys, and it's sort of stuck with me. From Legos to Pokemon to Star Wars, I'm boy-dork status.
