I just saw someone use it in a comment two days ago on FB and had to look it up on UrbanDictionary, lol! I was pretty sure about what it meant through context, but now I now it is onomatopoeic for a guy jacking off (the noise it makes sounds like fap, fap, fap).

All my friends always use the word fap, I didn't realise there were still people who never heard of the word. Maybe I just hear it often because all my friends are a bunch of hormonal boys going through puberty who find it easier to just say fap rather than jack off, masturbate, etc. It also sounds a lot more casual and hilarious I guess!

I hear it more on the internet. When my mate and I use it in everyday conversations, it is more making fun of our cats. When they scratch their ears it makes a fap fap fap noise and we make little comments, like "What are you doing over there, bud? Are you fapping on the couch again? What a bad cat."
