My favorite of all time was Return to Castle wolfenstein (multiplayer online), but a good open world game is Red Dead redemption and Burnout Paradise..but I guess it all depends on taste.

I love the new games and online capability, but I must say my all time favorite game is Contra....spent the better half of my childhood playing it with a friend.

If I have to pick a favorite of all time it would be King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella, since it was the first one I ever played. We got it when I was about 5 or 6.
