What do you look for when choosing to follow someone? Is there something about someone that you would not follow them for?

Usually it's when I like what they write in the forums, or when they follow me first I follow them back.

I follow people for a few reasons. I like their avatar, we have some similar interests, I like their reviews, or like bayosgirl said they write something in the forum that I liked.

People's reviews and when they take the time to read mine and make comments I follow. Or if someone notices me and follows me I typically follow back.

I follow people when I have had good interactions with them on the site, and if I enjoy their reviews. I rarely follow someone whom I don't "know" or haven't interacted with in some way. I wait until I get to know that person before following them.

I try to follow anyone who follows me...though if they don't actually write reviews, I generally don't follow them. I like reading other people's reviews, they help lead me to new things I would not have tried otherwise!
If I am going to go follow someone I haven't interacted with though, it is normally based on their reviews...if they have several that I like (style wise), I'll follow them to read more like them!
As a side note...I don't "follow" random strangers in the "real world".
