Do FOOD BARS, or SELF SERVE ICE CREAM stations...etc, make YOU eat more???

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
We call them PIG TROUGH places...even the VERY good one's (and there are some VERY nice one's), that are "all you can eat"...and we DO notice we take in FAR, FAR more calories then going to a traditional diner.

SO....is that the same for you, or do you pay that "all you can eat" and still do strict portion control? Be honest!!!

Constructive discussions on Desensitizing creams:

Cream Pies or Fruit Pies?
Now is the moment of truth everyone? Which is it? CREAM OR FRUIT?

Coffee creamer whats your favorite flavor?
I was just wondering if anyone had a favorite flavor of coffee creamer. There are so many weird flavors out now so pick one. lol

When you mix coffee with ice cream which flavor do you like to be dominant?
Oh my, I can't resist to stuff my coffee with icecream that I just mildly feel the coffee taste!

Desensitizing? Yes or No?
I would like to know why or why not!

Orgasm screams...Do you make the SAME sounds when alone as when with a partner?
I had a girlfriend who was a serious moan and scream girl with her orgasms. However, I came home from working a night shift, she was asleep and I left

Is "food bar" the new word for buffet? Weird.

I've only done the "all you can eat" thing when I'm out for a special occasion. I find that sampling some of everything, I'm full. I don't believe in strict portion control but somewhere along the road to adulthood I lost the ability to stuff myself.

Food isn't the enemy, yo.

I am going to eat all I can eat for the prices they charge these days. I have never had a problem though. I usually start out with the same thing if I was at any other place. A salad, meal and then dessert.

On the rare occasion that I go to a place like this I will fill my plate with a regular portion of food, and then I won't go back for seconds. Just because I can have as much as I like doesn't mean that I'd going to pile my plate sky high and go back three or four times.

Oh man, I absolutely will pile food on my plate. Day to day I eat quite healthy, and I maintain healthy portions, though I dont try to restrict my eating. I workout regularly and am in great shape so its not like I struggle with food. But put me at a good all you can eat (particularly Japanese/sushi, or place like sweet tomatoes buffet) and I will make myself sick. The more options the more trouble I'm in. I want to try some of everything, and I cant seem to stop. I avoid these places needless to say. My only saving grace is that Im a vegetarian so I can not actually try EVERYTHING.

Oddly enough, no. I usually eat more when we go to a restaurant.
At the self serve places I usually try a little of anything that looks good, but don't fill the plate as much as the typical meal at a place like Denny's or Friendly's.
I've found diners can be even worse though, I ordered chicken sorentino at this little joint up in NY once and the plate was pretty much packed full.

No, it doesn't have an effect on how much I eat. I may have one or two plates but that is it. I don't always get desert either. I really only care for Chinese buffets though, that way I can get a little of everything. The only buffet near me is Golden Corral and man they got busted BAD with health violations like roaches in food, holding food longer than the holding time, people putting their hands in the chocolate fountain leading to germs (fecal matter was mentioned) in it. I have only been there a few times and twice I got sick, I wouldn't eat at ANY Golden Corral EVER again. Makes me wanna puke thinking about it.

If anything I eat less at them because they usually don't have food good enough for me to eat a lot of it and I just end up eating tiny samples of everything.

When I do go to buffets, I don't go to places that will make you gain 10 pounds. I usually go to healthier places such as Souplantation.

SO....is that ... more
I have trouble eating much period. I get full super quick and once I start feeling like I'm getting there, I quit eating no matter what. I think I started doing that when I was ill with serious tummy complications. I'm able to eat more, but not really overdo it without getting sick. So, no, the all you can eat places don't cause me to over do, but I always end up wrapping something in a napkin and putting in my purse! LOl.

Yeah, this. Then if something is edible I go back and get enough of it to call a meal.

I do tend to eat MORE but probably take in less calories because of WHAT I eat.

If it is a buffet like Golden Corral I will fill up on mostly steak and a small plate of popcorn shrimp, and a small dessert.

At my favorite buffet where they serve steamed crabs and sushi, that is ALL I eat, and a bowl of ice cream for dessert. I don't even touch the pastas and high calorie Asian-style chicken and such (it's a chinese buffet)

No. I'm not a big eater, though. I tend to eat much less when I can fix my own plate as I'm able to decide what portions are appropriate for me.
