omg my friends are textaholics so this annoys me all the damn time. i thi nk its rude. Dont get me wrong i text when i am with friends sometimes but i know my limits and deff not in the middle of a convo.

My friends and I do this to each other all the time. As much of a stickler as I am for eye contact while talking, it's really not necessary. As long as they comprehend what I'm saying and aren't completely ignoring me, I don't care, we can converse just fine regardless.

Yeah, I think it's rude. Kinda like talking on their cell phone around you (when it's not business related). Way to say "I'd rather be with this other person than present company!"

If I'm trying to have a serious conversation with you and you keep texting? Yes, it drives me crazy. But if we're like, out shopping or just bumming around I don't really mind as much. I text with my husband a lot, even with people over, although if I tell him I want to focus on the guests he'll leave me be.

It bothers me when this happens, but it doesn't that often. I mean, it's normal to watch them check their phones every so often, even when I may talking. But they don't get completely absorbed into it, so it doesn't bother me.

I have a friend that texts when i am on the phone with her and I hear a whole bunch of clicking in my ear and I just hang up on her. She doesn't text while she is on the phone with me anymore.

It really pisses me off, so rude!! If someone needs that much contact with people they must not be that interested in our conversation.

I usually don't care if we are just hanging out. My best friend, her fiancee is in the navy so when he texts her I expect her to answer him because he doesn't do it all that often. Now if it was to the point that it was getting in the way of whatever we were doing I might make comment but honestly it doesn't phase me much.
